Trump this.

...It is coming. Congress is the only leg of government with the power to stop it, and they will not.
English has one word: "coup".

Other countries have different words for different types of coups.

There's not just one path. :)

A coup is not necessary when the government willingly capitulates to the invaders.

You cannot rape the willing.

You can rape the willing. Every day a man of God talks a teen boy into giving up his virginity to a middle aged hypocrite. There is consent but it is not informed consent.
The law assumes that under a certain age, a teenager is too young to understand the consequences of his or her decisions and so assumes that any consent is not informed consent.
Millions of US voters gave consent to a far right populist govt but for most of them this was not informed consent. Not many would willingly vote for worse healthcare, worse schools,, worse pollution, letting violent prisoners walk free, making their country an object of world wide derision, and that's just the begining.
It is easy to say 'told you so' 'we tried to warn you' True but useless. A whole country is being raped, some of them have been very stupid but everyone who gets raped is a victim. Keep your weapons pointed at the rapist, not his victim.

The problem with that analogy is that there are plenty of people willing to trade the assfucking for permission to be bigots and homophobes. A significant percentage of his supporters don't care how much they get raped so long as they can then savor the pain, humiliation, and injustice heaped on the will inflict on the people they hate.

That's what they elected him to do, and they'll excuse whatever else he does so long as that's what he delivers. That doesn't make them vitims, it makes them whores.

The Emperor's fan club found him a toy to keep him distracted on Sunday.

Dosen't sound like there's much hope then.

The hope is that those people are NOT a majority by any means. Toad doesn't win elections. He's going to piss everyone ELSE off fairly quickly - he's already careening madly from stupid mistake to stupid mistake. The people who are the horde, the people I described above, have always been here, and they are also in Canada, and Britian, (Brexit was going to stop the brown avalanche burying you was it not - only it didn't and that promise was just the same lie that got us "mass Deportation."} and especially Germany from whence all of Toad's fondest wishes originate, and everywhere else on the planet. It's just a fact of humanity that probably the same percentage of any group are going to be haters.

What's happened is that people in the U.S. have gotten extremely complacent. Even in the "bad times" of the last 70 years or so, it wasn't really all that bad. We forgot what actual struggle looks like, and it's easy for that farm owner to think that it sounds like a good idea to slap tariffs on Mexican avocados and sell more of his. It sounds like a good idea to deport all the migrant farm labor and hire "Real Americans©."

Only that's not how it works, and he doesn't know that because wiser heads had generally prevailed and he never had to - and he believes because it's simple and what he wants to hear, and he doesn't like Mexicans anyway. This guy is not a rabid racist, he's probably fairly neutral about the border in actuality whatever he says at a rally, and he's going to have to hurt to cahnge. Because when push comes to shove, that class of voter that the Republicans have relied on to just vote Red and not think about anything else is going to have to feel the pain before they wake up and pay attention to fact. So, by all means, don't buy his avocados, don't buy a Tesla, don't vacation in Orlando, and don't believe we don't absolutely deserve the object lesson.

Just hope it gets painful enough before it's too late.

I am listening to one of the smartest voices in America, Heather Cox Richardson.

She is noting that this whole coup is just a flood of lies...but that the approval ratings for Trump and Musk are actually plunging, even though selective polls try to prop up the notion that Americans are behind all of Trump's measures.

The question is, can Musk and Trump consolidate all their power before they nakedly seize the controls?

Or can the courts and public push-back keep them from advancing their fascist agenda?

Touch and go.

If we end up with a coup, it won't be either Toad or that Nazi from South Africa that ends up in the chair.

Well, we've been waiting for one of Trump's fart suckers to do it (at his direction, no doubt). President for life.

And would the SC stop him if he ignored the Constitution?

They have nowhere near the votes to even begin amending the Constitution. That's just more freakshow to lure in the bobbleheads.

But if he announced, would the Robert's court rule against him?

Or would they find the work-around?

A lower court would deny that and then the S.C. would stick their heads in the sand and refuse to rule, letting the lower court stand and not having to take any of the blame from the orange monstrosity.

There's nothing quite like bureaucratic cowardice.
