  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

TV shows that jumped the shark and just won't go away.

I still like it... it just seems less educational, and more "What can we blow up today?"

Thats is true, Although surprisingly the last episode I watched was about hail sinking boats and jumping off a falling rope bridge. They didnt work a single explosion into it haha :p

That was before they started devoting entire episodes to duct tape. I think that's when they jumped the shark.

Mythbusters went downhill when they started relying too much on myths involving unrealistic movie physics from one scene in a movie.

^But... they're stuntmen. I kind of agree if that's all they choose to do, but wouldn't that just be expanding upon their former job?

OK Mythbusters go and create your own thread to that god awful show.

move along now.

I just watched the first 15 minutes of Glee.....

sadly it is a bunch of shit with everyone singing beatles songs.

RIP Cory.....I think you were the heart of the cast.

I expected Finn to be mentioned but then it became apparent that they werent going to mention it yet.
The song is well done and when they do the show, I think it will be good.

I think its weird how life works. All the songs fit the subject they were addressing as if almost the song was written for the show.
Im NOT a Beatles fan but I watched the show.
Its funny how they had four guys to impersonate the Beatles. They used the Black transgender character as a girl screaming in the audience.
(This could be a thread topic but Ill post it here) . . .
On a more general note about 'look alikes', I think its weird how life - I think I already said that - everything always works out. The person in a movie always look like the person they are playing. What if in 'THe Queen' there was no actress that looked like the Queen. Ashton Kutcher looks like Steve Jobs, Meryl Streep looked like Margaret Thatcher, etc. It has nothing to do with Glee, but thats what it made me think about.

I was ready to cry at the ending. It was great and it made me think of Teenage Dream just as Blaine mentioned it. But what the hell does he see in Curt?

I thought about growing up nowadays and seeing two gay guys kiss on primetime tv. "AH-mazing" (Amazing RAce Canada reference thrown in ;-)

No actor is irreplaceable. On Bewitched they changed Darrin's, Mrs. Kravitz, and Larry Tate's wife. On the Batman TV show in the 60's they had multiple women play Catwoman, and in the Batman, Spiderman, Superman movies there's a different actor in every one, practically.

^has someone who has struggled with addiction his entire life. and someone who lost one of his best friends to suicide. It is a disease that is hard to conquer

I grieved that night I heard about him.

Oh don't get me wrong - I feel bad for Corey. I think it's a terrible shame and tragedy... I was speaking more towards how Glee will learn to go on without him. In show biz, the show must go on.

Law & Order was on the air for 20 years, which was ≈5 years too many. The revolving door of characters got to be too much for me. Also, the writers started running out of their own ideas and began relying more and more on real events for the plot.

NCIS.

American Idol

That's still on the air?

All of the preceeding are such good choices....Hot In Cleveland is just poised to go over the shark with the introduction of the ubiquitous baby and an increasingly swollen cast...funny how Golden Girls was able to maintain a tight cast relationship and keep the story fresh without constant casting gimmicks.

I also seem to remember that there was the day when we turned to one another after watching an episode of Will and Grace and wondered aloud if the shark had just been jumped.

Honest to Pete though...I think that the first episode of the Michael J. Fox show had an off-camera shark in it.

I love Law and Order SVU.............especially now that Danny Pino is on it.

Loved him on Cold Case. That was such a great show. Kicked you in the feels week after week.

Who wants to be a Millionaire?-The show 10 years ago was must watch tv it was exciting suspenseful etc. Now its just boring i hate the format change and i miss Regis Philbin.

Two and a Half Men-Charlie was the star of the show and it was funny with the Mom,Berta,Girlfriends etc. Aston Kutcher is not a good replacement don't get me wrong hes good eye candy but he sucks.

Family Feud- The show has been on for over 10 years. It was exciting when it was revived with Louie Anderson the questions updated set etc was nice. But the show relies too much on sexual humor and it gets old after awhile and Steve reactions are not funny.

Saturday Night Live- All the good cast members left or they been gone for ages. The People who played Obama sucks

Shows like Maury and Springer have been on for decades. I've never watched a single episode of any of them. Have they ever jumped the shark?

I love Maury.

This the 34th DNA test and this time we will find out who the father is.

LOL

I still love it too. It was very painful to watch this week though with Benson being tortured....too disturbing...but I watched anyway...with one eye closed.

If I am going to do the elliptical or bike at the gym I try to time it so I can watch the whole hour of SVU in reruns....makes the time go by a lot faster. One episode equals about 15 miles and 600 calories.

Big Bang Theory I can't even with that no mo

I still like The Big Bang theory, but you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Will and Grace was excellent up to the middle of the fourth season, then the show changed writers. It was downhill from there. The characters became caricatures of themselves. Seasons 5-8 were poorly written.

The Michael J Fox show was cringe worthy. There are several new shows that won't last much beyond the end of this year. Mom is one, Dads is another. We Are Men isn't very good. I predict Sean Saves the World won't last more than three months.
