Donald Trump claimed during his campaign that he could end the war within a day. He will come into office on January 20th, 2025, so that the war will be over on January 21st. We'll talk again on January 21st.

So on January 21 Trump will declare the war has ended because the Ukraine is once again a part of Russia in his eyes.

Anyone who didn't notice that the first time around wasn't paying attention. He's also the most corrupt, the biggest thief, and the least ethical person ever in the White House. He doesn't have over 50 percent support, and he never has. He got elected through a quirk in our system that in certain circumstance will return a winner without a majority. The reason people vote for him is rooted in the bigotry of ages past that we never dealt with. He stampedes the stupid and the racists with horror tales of brown people over-running "their" country while promising miracles that will never materialize and promising to punish people the stupid and the racists don't like.

This is compounded by media complicity for profit and online propaganda taking reality and tuning it on its head. If you ask one of his voters about anything, they are literally living in a different universe from you. What you know is fact, it just lies to them. I can't emphasize that enough.

He is motivated by two things, petty spite, a desire to hurt people who don't kiss his ass, and greed. He doesn't believe anything he's saying. has no actual political identity, and the circus of fools and crazies with which he's filled his government's primary purpose is to distract you from the theft of the treasury.

It would be easy to stop him. If the politicians who support him weren't being offered bribes of various kinds and receiving threats. They won't. They won't think of any of us before they think of their own welfare. So why do their voters keep them in office? Because they are all living on crazy planet courtesy of Rupert Murdoch and will not come back That is the first thing that makes him dangerous.

The second is that he's insane. He's a malignant narcissist, a megalomanic, he thinks he's God, and he has no capacity to feel empathy. He'll sacrifice anyone's lives and livelihoods, security, families, and the country on a whim. It matters not to him who dies because of his delusion. There is no promise he'll keep, and no lie he won't tell, he doesn't understand concepts like Liberty or the consequences of his whims, he's deeply ignorant and won't listen to people who know better. There is no thought or reflection in him, just base greed and petty spite.

The third is that every dictator on the planet knows how to manipulate him. He might as well be an agent of Putin if he isn't one explicitly.

Europe needs to look to its own welfare because no one is getting anything but chaos for the next four years. Maybe it's for the best. Toad isn't the originator of the political problem we have; he's the end result of it. It's going to take pain for us to right the system. We've been through this before, and it looks like we need to re-learn what our great grandparents did. Americans have been complacent and stopped thinking we could ever lose our fundamental freedoms, and now we're in a fight to keep them. The last truth is that a lot of people are going to be ruined or dead before this is over.

Look to your own welfare, don't elect people who will cooperate with him, put economic pressure on the money that bought his elections if you can. Just as siure as there is sunrise there are people in your own county willing to benefit from his fascism, make sure they never get power.

It's just an absurd pantomine to pretend he is dealing "fairly" with both sides.

Zelenskyy has had to tread the margin due to Trump's goons getting ever greedier with their demands not for shared revenue from the Ukraine mineral deal, but for ALL the revenue, control of the funds, blocked access for other investors, and NO security in return.

The Ukrainian parliament should laugh and burn it publicly.

BTW, does Congress no longer have to ratify treaties for the US? How can Trump negotiate a Ukraine treaty for war reparations without Congress required to approve?

It was clear from the beginning. Trump's deal with Putin was that rrrZZZia could seize Ukraine in return for him getting a cut of the mineral and oil wealth and promises to help him be elected.

I also think he was easily convinced by Putin that rrrZZZia has a claim to any countries occupied by rrrZZZian speaking people who were mostly brought to those countries as part of a Soviet colonial expansion.

But increasingly, I think that Trump is looking for any pretext to walk away from this. The bullying isn't working...the US is now seen throughout the west at least as working solely on behalf of the Kremlin and is no longer considered an ally of Ukraine or Europe. And no longer has any credibility as a partner in peace talks. So this may be the excuse they use to quit in a of pique instead of having to admit a year from now that Putin is playing the US like a cheap fiddle and that their strategy of giving Putin everything has failed. I suspect that TrumpCo. brings to an end the importance of the US in negotiating world affairs.

They talked one-on-one, with no interpreter (evidently) and made no real public statement about what was exchanged. The Ukrainian delegation mentioned that there might be a 2nd meeting after the funeral, but there was not, so that doesn't sound like the conversation was one of comity.

As a side comment, I look at this photo of the four men together (I cannot bring myself to say "leaders" since Trump is present), and marvel a bit at the starkness of contrast in their countries and fortunes.

Ukraine is struggling, but holding on against all odds.

Keir is trying to bridge the gap between madness and sanity in trans-Atlantic relations.

Macron is preparing France to retake the lead in European status.

And Trump is unaware of how badly things will come down, thinking he has only this minor Ukrainian issue to get behind him.

I kinda thought as much, probably with Zelenskyy repeating, one more time, that he'll go with the Europeans if America is done, but he isn't surrendering and handing Putin a win.

Now, if Europe doesn't put up, it won't be a long fight.

I still maintain that Putin's interests are just not a priority for Toad. I do not doubt that his sympathies lie with Putin, but considering that Putin never officially offered to make peace at all and there have been no "negotiations" between Ukraine, the US, and Russia that I'm aware of, it's all just so much noise.

I bet this is all about Toad's ego.

The truth is that it's looking more and more like Ukraine will survive without U.S. aid, and Toad only has overwhelming leverage in his tiny little insane mind.

On top of that Toad is doing an excellent job of shafting Putin's interests. Thanks to his insanity, the price of oil dropped sharply. I'm sure Vlad appreciated that. The Russians are no longer saying that Toad will sweep in and give them victory either.

Trump's interests were always about Trump.

It was always transactional.

And it is definitely an ego thing...which is why I think he is increasingly looking for a way to back out while totally blaming Ukraine for not making peace. That way, he will never have to admit that he failed.

Vlad has not offered a single concession at all and basically makes a mockery of every one of Trump's pathetic 'Truth' Social pronouncements about the imaginary peace process.

It is no wonder that even Grassley is parting ways with Trump on this.

In my reckoning, the Senate has only been giving Trump a honeymoon on forebearing opposition. Like a spoiled toddler, they are going to let him throw a fit and burn itself out on violating Constitutional limits, letting the courts speak and see if he is bold enough to openly defy them after all appeals are done.

And they won't race in to save a deportee if he wasn't native born. They simply don't have to.

But, there are still plenty of hawks owned by Lockheed, Raytheon, Northrup Grumman, United Technologies, General Electric, L3 Harris, and others, and they won't walk away from the gravy train that is the Ukraine War. Additionally, the Pentagon is smarter than to let the test bed on the Russian border just be thrown away when they can get practical data for major weapon systems in a real theater of war.

The toadies may salute, but Trump will find himself without a majority when he attempts to sacrifice Ukraine permanently.

And with so many mistakes happening domestically, Trurmp only has 19 months belore he loses Congress in the midterms. If he tries to suspend elections for any reason, we are at civil war and the Pentagon will have to act if Congress does not.

First off, nothing he says now will be true tomorrow. It's just noise. IF he's saying bad things about Putin, it's one of two things: either Putin did something to offend him, or people around him are telling him people are saying he's Putin's b****. That also won't be true tomorrow. Toad has zero interest in ending the war. It was a convenient campaign issue, but there never was, and there never will be any serious attempt to arbitrate anything. The only thing he cares about is that it's become clear that the only glory he'll get from it is in the lies he tells himself.

The only plan he might be harboring is how to extricate himself from this mess, which has proven, as everyone told him, to be unresolvable since Putin has no intention of stopping the war. Whatever he does in the end, his intent will be to blame whoever is most convenient for stopping his genius from stopping the war, and he'll still be claiming he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

At some point, he'll declare victory and ignore the problem.
