Venting Thread 2020?

My sleeping schedule is so screwed up anymore. Barely sleeping at night and taking several naps during the day.

For awhile now I have some of the same problem. At least a couple of times a week I wake up at night and cannot fall back to sleep for 2 or 3 hours lying bored in bed.

Ok Guys.

Are you turning off the electronics a full hour before hitting the bed?

Do you have a light novel to read?

Are you avoiding caffeine and sugar at least 3 hours before bedtime?

I take Trazadone each night so I am getting a great night's sleep....but if it is wearing you down...talk to the Doc.

^All of those things I have practiced before and none of them had a lasting affect on my quality of sleep unfortunately. I have taken Melatonin in the past and even though I slept well, it was only for a few hours and I still ended up taking naps. I take vitamins, my diet is fine, so I don't know what it could be outside of lack of being able to go to the Gym at the moment.

I thought that those things only kept you from falling to sleep, not waking you up after three hours and not letting you fall back to sleep. My grandparents complained about this same thing, and they would fall asleep sitting in a chair in the middle of the day. I guess that I am old now, so I assume that I am having the same old age problem. I am reluctant to take any medicine that I don't need. Although I do sit on the computer before bed it is the only one of those that you mentioned.

I am thinking my back pain creeping up again might be a part of the issue as to why I am having sleeping trouble, considering I am up right now because of it. Time to start doing some stretches on the daily.

Went to bed at 11pm last night only to wake up around 1-1:30am. Then went back to bed at 10am to wake up at 1pm.

Talked to my Doctor who has made a few suggestions that sound like could help. Going to start doing these things today. Tired of being tired all day because of inconsistent sleep.

I had to resurrect the thread.

My neighbor across the street is an almost retired engineer at Boeing. He and his wife have a 40-yr.-old son living with them and his teenage daughter. I think they are the wife's from her previous marriage. None of them have kept the quarantine from the beginning, but that's a different story.

The engineer, and sometimes his son, comes over and shoots copperhead snakes in the creek that runs along my property on the road's edge. It's about 12 feet down from the road dump. I've never liked the way they presume on my property, as I don't like the snakes being shot in the first place, never mind them leaving shotgun shells behind on the road shoulder.

He also has a zero turn mower, which is not what I want to spend for a mower, but when he mows, he usually blows all the crap out in the street. It looks awful and half of is blows over to my side when the traffic blows by.

But, I keep the peace and don't complain to them.

Last week he mentioned that his mower was in the shop. I thought he might be hinting at wanting to borrow mine, so I offered. He didn't think he'd need it, but I repeated the offer.

Today, about 2:00, I was on a conference call on my job, but working from home, and he texted to say he wanted to use the mower after all. So, after work, I drove it over at 4:30. He acted hasty when I left it and sorta rushed me off before I could tell him a few things about it. Apparently there was some crisis going on inside. I felt like it was a bother, but he had asked and told me when to bring it. Their family seems to have lots of crises.

Back at my house, I got a text an hour later and he thanked me but complained about the mower "nearly beat him to death," referring to its steering and ride not being as good as his zero turn.

It is just another reason I hate Alabama. Same bastard conservatives support Trump, push Fundamentalism, natter about abortion, and don't have the simple manners of a hobo. Piss on 'em. If they ever broach the topic with me, I'm going to tell them that from my observation, there haven't been nearly enough babies killed around here.

And thanks for asking. Unfortunately my back pain is pretty consistent depending on my sleeping positions, but it's been pretty good lately and sleep has been pretty good. I also changed a few things around when it comes to what I've been eating, which seems to also have helped with energy during the day and getting a more consistent sleep.

That's good to hear. When your sleep is poor, you just don't have a fair chance at a good day.

The neighbor's backhanded complement almost made me start a thread about them, but I remembered the venting thread instead.

By the end of yesterday, I had totally had it with this week.

It has been about the worst and makes me question again why I keep working.

I did have a very annoying problem with my insurance company recently.

On August 31st when I went to pay it because that was the last day I could, I was on their site and in my account where it told me my insurance could be suspended because of “late payments.” So I do some investigating, check my bank account from the last few months and checked the section of their site that has invoices. All good, all paid this year. So I pay the bill that needs to be paid and decided to wait till the next day to see if everything will smooth over.

Next day, everything is on the up and up. Got an email with my receipt for my payment.

That very same day I had a Doctor checkup and had him refill some prescriptions. All good. Next day go to grab those prescriptions. Now mind you this is for GENERIC, ONE of my medicines was coming to $462 and that wasn’t even full price because the Pharmacist tech kind of didn’t know what she was doing. She told me to call my insurance, so I did. Turns out the “lapse in payment” didn’t process right away and the prescriptions went through before the that payment was processed, even though I paid on time. Which tells me my insurance did cancel it for a period of time even though the payment wasn’t actually late.

All in all, insurance in America is garbage even when you are doing what you’re supposed to.

They billed me in July, and I paid it in August.

Then I got an email in August that they were about to direct bill me on my credit card on file.

When I went to the card, I saw that they had already done so back in July, and after I went in and paid them because they had invoiced me, it was a double payment. So, I'm now trying to stave off a 3rd billing plus get back the duplicate.

They won't answer the phone in the billing department, not here at my clinic nor at the home office. They spiel some bullshit about paying online and then high call volume nonsense, and you stay on the phone forever with annoyance music and they never ever pick up.

Then, if you try to reach the customer service department at headquarters, they ask you to leave a message and then tell you it's full.

I submitted a request by email via their system and it has gone unanswered.

I'm going to the state attorney general and the BBB to make complaint. I may also go to the state medical board to report them.

Bastards.

I hate it when you can't talk to someone and they don't have an option that allows you to solve the problem. Although you could close your credit card to make sure they don't charge you a third time, that is not a good solution. Good for you going to the state and BBB and medical board. Hope that works although it will be time consuming.

There are just so many layers of corruption possible in a firm. They could be understaffing, so have only one person handling billing questions for 50 clinics, essentially not staffing.

There could be a person using the COVID crisis to work from home and simply not answering.

There could be a phone system failure at their center.

There could be an office manager who simply won't allow staff to take calls and wants to filter everything through the email and delays, an attempt to simply wear down customers.

Just terribly frustrating, but we have lots of walk-in clinics within five miles, so I will never use them again.

HardUp, couldn't you simply dispute the charges with your credit card company and get them to reverse the payment? I'm sure they're well aware that double-billing is one of the most frequent consumer complaints. That would certainly get you quicker results than trying to get through to a company which has cut off all meaningful communication with their customers.

Yes, I considered entering a dispute on the charge, but I also needed to reach the clinic company about the actual visit and follow up.

I finally reached a switchboard and got to a supervisor who credited the overbill, although it hasn't hit the account yet.

Will still need to reach the local clinic's manager about the service issue, but I will.

Yesterday my anxiety spiked a bit because I went to my previous place of work where I quit on the spot instead of giving two weeks notice. It was taking a mental and physical toll on me. I knew I couldn’t do it anymore at the time.

I went in yesterday because a friend of mine had a bad fall, they needed help because they needed heavy things like cat litter. I’ve generally done really well in the last couple months with my emotions, but approaching that store and being in it I felt my anxiety creeping up on me. Ultimately nothing happened but the thought of confrontation on top of the thought that I might slip into old emotional habits almost got the best of me.

Long story short. He kept slamming the 24 count water cases down causing some of them to leak. I asked him not to slam them down so he started carrying them by the plastic on the sides so the fucking bottles are falling out. I swear I thought I was on Candid Camera.
