I'm actually listening to a queue of 1949 hits (before my time!) which helps take some of the rough edges off these rough times, though it's really nothing more than a musical Band-Aid.

I've been thinking about calling my doctor to see if he can prescribe an anti-anxiety medication again. I voluntarily quit that last time because I didn't like how it made me feel unmotivated in the morning.

You should consider asking your doctor about prescribing Ativan (Lorazepam). It works fantastically and very quickly to calm down acute anxiety attacks (in my case at least) and it also helps with getting to sleep. Just be careful to not use it too often, because if you stop using it suddenly, the withdrawal symptoms can be quite unpleasant. For home use it comes in tiny little tablets (0.5mg, 1mg and 2mg) that you place under you tongue.

I can remember school lunch being really bad back in the day. < Vent But they had good soft pretzels and half pints of chocolate milk. Lunch was 2 pretzels and a chocolate milk for quite a while.

Late summer and early fall we have been inundated with small fruit flies. I don't know if when we started buying fresh fruit and they came with it or if they are just small enough to come through the screen. I have seen 7 of them in a small space and 14 in a room next to the kitchen. Wish there was some way to get rid of a bunch of them at once.

I raked leaves for the first time this season. All of our trees still have green leaves and yet there were enough dead leaves in the front yard to rake.

A couple of weeks ago my last surviving aunt turned 103. The day before her birthday she fell and broke her hip. She had an operation on her birthday and is recovering in rehabilitation in a nursing home. She is hoping to go back to her assisted living apartment soon, but I don't think it will be as soon as she would like. We can stand outside of her room window and call her from our cell phones and talk to her except the window is tinted and hard to see through and she is often sleeping when we get there.

This week was a reminder that my Asthma is no joke. Was running the Vacuum and then decided to clean out the dust compartment where I had a really bad Asthma flare and ended up having to go to the Doctors and get a treatment for. They were doing the nebulizer cause of COVID reasons, so instead I got a needle in my hip and my ass was sore for at least a day. And felt s little nauseous at times.

So it had me out of commission for a few days. We bought our own nebulizer and I am going to talk to my BF about a cleaning service. He doesn’t have enough time to do as much cleaning as I’d like and I don’t have to energy and can’t actually do as much as I’d like on the account of my Asthma. So hopefully we can get that. Clean house is great to keep a good mental state.

I walked away ... [from CE&P]... months ago. The mods promote their own political views, delete posts willy-nilly, and interfere instead of police threads, retitling them, combining them, and generally changing the ability to post with your own voice. If it's not open dialogue, with real diversity represented, then there's no need to go sit in an echo chamber. It also is the graveyard for the deteriorating political threads from Hot Topics that are allowed for a time here until they finally shovel them off to the barn.

Well, it happened again! A topic of discussion in Hot Topics - perfectly happy here - was uprooted and thrown into the dungeon of CE&P - like the folks here don't deserve a spirited discussion, or they are so damn fragile they can't handle a little controversy.

The message is ... stick to your vanilla & milk toast drivel in here. Don't express a HOT TOPIC opinion or it will be tossed out like yesterday's wilted lettuce.

So SAD! Change the title from "What is a worker worth" to " What is a Hot Topic worth"

You have X, Y, & Z posting screeds about A & B with the same slants, and bobbleheads echoing the same views. There isn't any debate or real news, just venting.

There are maybe 2 or 3 conservative or even opposing viewpoints in the whole forum, with the same pattern.

It's every bit as much a vestigial remnant as the Post a Current Pic thread became with only two members posting daily until it died, the difference being a few mods like CE&P because they share the venting.

It would be better titled "Hackneyed Politics" since there is no attempt to police current events and exile them to there. After all, current events are some of the few Hot Topics left. Perhaps the original intent was for Hot Topics to be more salacious and sexual.

But, if you think about it, there is the constant problem with current events including political leaders, celebrities, porn stars, etc., and they all have subforums to which they could be banished.

Hell, the COVID threads properly belong in the Health & Well Being forum, but you won't see a mod move his own thread back there any time soon.

All true of course , having suffered from my threads being moved into CE&P over the past few weeks when they were an attempt to get the whole forum to take part in the debate, instead we have the same old same old, i could near enough write most peoples posts for them.

One thought did occur to me (yes just one)perhaps they remove any there with even a scintilla of potential hazard of going off the rail as they don't want to MOD them, perhaps there aren't enough MODS to do the job properly now, if Bryce or Seth or whatever the fella is called is reading this thread, i humbly put myself forward for Modship.

There is no gate or special password required to get into the sub-forums (fora?).

But usually the reason they are moved is that the sub-forum is governed by a slightly different set of rules.

I had one mod (*late lamented departed jackoroe*) among a couple of other who threatened banning if I tracked CE&P dust into HT. And yet, tens of thousands of posts later...I am still here. And while every once in awhile I may not be in total agreement with a JUB mod about restrictive parameters...I can suck it up.

The thing with HT....and I give JUB a HUGE amount of credit for this...is that it isn't just a random drive-by shooting your mouth off. Posters are required to provide citations for 'facts'.

And I get that eventually the issue of minimum wage will overlap with politics....in the US the two subjects become inextricable.

Eventually JUB will collapse into a single free-for-all form because there is no longer the traffic to support parsing all of out thread into multiple sub-forums (fora?)

Will this be good? I don't know.
