THAT is why I don't have your even keeled equivocation on the state of right America vs left America. Is there hypocrisy and foolishness and recklessness on the left? Yes. But it pales compared to the fact we're living in a god damned Alice in Wonderland where up is down, standards have gone out the window and what would never be thinkable in US politics we're living through that it wouldn't take much at all for complete lunacy to set in.
All I can say is that I feel the same way, but I
think differently. I am certain the media and the political leaders are quick to push our buttons, reduce us to emotional reactionary audiences, when we need to go beyond that and reason more. I will say that you and I joined JUB in the same year, and I have always posted in both directions, often infuriating one side of an argument.
It's not as black and white as being described. Gavin Newsom was just busted for attending a private dinner with a larger group with no masks after all that preaching about it.
And Alexander Hamilton is proven now to have owned and dealt in slaves, so the popular culture myths are a-crumblin'.
But we won't get the same coverage, depending on the leanings of the reporting media.
Agreed the world is upside down. Agreed we are in much worse shape due to Trump's incompetency and callous disregard. Agreed the greater problem is evil men who sit and watch Rome while it burns, all the while planning how to exploit the aftermath.
As for the society at large, anyone looking around for the last three decades and seeing economy cars being outnumbered by retrograde SUVs could tell you in a heartbeat that Americans have been growing more selfish by the year. And that's Americans, not Republicans. So, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the majority of the country doesn't give a damn when weighing their perks vs. the deaths of people they don't care about.
And for good measure, let's throw in lots of Europe too, since they seem to be catching fire with virus that wouldn't be happening if they were masking and distancing.
All that said, don't think I am not a partisan. If there is anything unsavory in the electoral college in December, I'll get a pitchfork and be up in arms immediately. It will truly be the time to burn it to the ground.
