Venting Thread 2020?

First world rant, nothing important.

I went to the dentist last Monday for a routine cleaning and check-up. First thing they did was tell me that they have a new covid surcharge to cover the extra things they do because of covid. It was $20 and not covered by insurance. Not totally out of the question, but unexpected.

I happened to check my credit rating score about a week ago and found that they had lowered my credit score 1 point because they had closed my Sears charge card. Not a big deal, yet it wasn't my fault and would have happened to everyone because Sears closed.

Vent #1: I turned on the car's radio on Monday to listen to some Christmas music and they had stopped playing Christmas music. It isn't New Years yet. If they wouldn't start playing it before Thanksgiving then people wouldn't be tired of it by December 28th.

Vent #2: We got some late Christmas cards. I looked at the post marks and was surprised to find that one was sent from a westside suburb to a westside suburb on the 19th and received by us on Dec 28th, 9 days later. Then I was floored when we received one sent on Dec 12 and received on Dec 29th. This is ridiculous, it took 17 days to go from an eastside suburb (although from the neighboring county) to a westside suburb?! I hope none of our bills are this late. So far, all but one have given us enough time to send the check (at least during normal times) except for my cell phone bill which gave me just 3 days to send it out of state, so I phoned and charged it to my credit card.

Vent #3: I had to go back to the 3rd page to find this thread to make my vent.

^ first world problems

I don't know if the Cleveland area is an example for the rest of the country but mail delivery has been terrible. I am not even get the carrier coming through on 2 days out of the week.

A couple of months ago, I posted a story in the Gay Stories forum, that had a character in his late teens, actual age not specified. I noticed a day or two later it had been taken down. Why? Apparently the mods thought, because I didn't mention the specific age, and I used the words "teen" and "adolescent" interchangeably, they presumed that I meant to imply that the character was underage. The word "teen" is used ubiquitously in porn, gay and otherwise, and that seems OK. I guess my mistake was in assuming that since "teen" and "adolescent" are used interchangeably in everyday parlance, I could do the same on JUB. Apparently not so!

I did not intend to imply the character was underage, and I simply liked the story too much to let it go. So I reposted it, pointedly changed it, saying things like, "I later found out the boy was 18 (see what I did there?), deleting the word "adolescent," and making a few other minor changes, so the story would stick.

Sheesh!

Unfortunately not unheard of on here. I liked writing stories on here when I first came here many moons ago, but I stopped once I noticed my stories got edited and deleted for various different arbitrary reasons.

Funnily enough you can go on the front page of this very website and see younger guys who could very well pass for being underage. Don't seem to have a problem with it there when they can profit off it. Edit: To extend further on this you can find "younger" and "all american boys" under the categories list on the front page.

New rant: I had 178 new emails in my inbox today (within 24 hours)! Quite awhile ago I had donated some money to some Democratic groups before the election. Since then I have been inundated with requests to donate to several Democratic groups including ones I had not donated to before. Without counting them I would guess that about 35 of the 178 were not Democratic. I also had 74 emails in my spam. I deleted all of the Democratic ones and almost all of the rest.

Don't you dare tell me that soaking your spinach in water keeps it fresh. It adds water weight, and you sell it by the pound. Spinach keeps best tightly wrapped and with minimal moisture. Too much moisture accelerates spoilage. I'm onto your little scheme and next time I'm in I will pay for my purchase with soaking wet cash you evil pixie bastard.

Interesting that Democrats are begging for donations when Americans need that 2K stimulus check.

This is exactly why I will never again donate any money to any Democrat.

I donated $20 to the Beto O'Rourke campaign in 2018, and I estimate that by Election 2020 I had received 1,500 to 1800 emails from all sorts of Democratic campaigns in Texas. During the last three or four weeks before 2020 elections, there were some days I was getting 25 to 40 emails just bombarding me.

There were similarly times I would donate to something by mail, and forever get mail from organizations of all sorts. I am STILL getting mail from People for the American Way, which I donated to in 1990 or 1991. "Donate $50 to us, get an entire TREE's worth of paper mail over the next few decades, because we'll sell your name to everybody."

I mean, ENOUGH. This probably belongs in the venting thread. Oh wait, this IS the venting thread LOL...

I did not intend to imply the character was underage...deleting the word "adolescent,
Good move. I don't think that teen and adolescent are exact synonyms. I think of "adolescent" meaning somewhere between the ages of 12 and 16, which is always underage. "Teen" can be troublesome but at least that can mean 18 or 19.

We just received a Christmas card postmarked December 10th which we received on January 5th. It came from North Carolina to Ohio and took 26 days and they had a note in it telling us of their new address. Never before has the U.S. mail been this slow.!!!!!

^ I was wrong, it took 25 days.

Not that 25 days is a hell of a lot better than 26 days...

I didn't see anything like that, but I did receive at least one mailing that took over a week, instead of the usual 3-4 days.

I tried to get to my emails today on AT&T and it wouldn't let me. I go through Yahoo to get to AT&T and my emails. I called AT&T and found out they are having trouble with the yahoo linked accounts and are working on it and it will take a day or so to be resolved, so I cannot see my emails for a day or more.
