Venting Thread 2020?

I have to get an electrician in and a plumber in the next few weeks, some lingering jobs I've been trying to get to. And then, I've got to replace my air unit or the roof this year, not decided which yet.

Kinda want to wait for the roof until I can be back at the office, as I'm quite sure the pounding hammers will drive me over the edge for those two or three days.

I loathe having to sort through contractors to try to find an honest and competent one. Slim pickins' here in Alabama. The only thing slim here.

I'm stressing out over the holidays.
 
A tooth of mine has been acting up again and it’s been a bit difficult trying to get a Dentist appointment. Oof.

Well, the cat nor the hamster has to work in Excel and Oracle and make financial forecasts, so presumably they will be just inconvenienced.

On a serious note, I can move both into the basement level and shut the door, which should at least make the banging be muffled. Thanks for reminding me. The cat actually spends her days outside, so she'll probably just take a hike through the neighborhood once they start.

Some days I wonder why I keep going into work, yesterday's shift was one of those days. Covid deniers are out of this world, in more ways than one. ](*,)
 
I feel sorry for all the health care workers who are having to deal with all of this.

But for very different reasons, yesterday made me wish for retirement too.

The Chinas only have about 260 nuclear devices. America has 6500.

I personally think there will be a Sino-American war within the next 10 years at most.

If that war between the two goes nuclear, the U.S. my loose a few military installations and cities. America could turn China into an atomic wasteland, where you can play Fallout for real.

I give both nations more credit than that.

China has balanced at the edge of Korea for over six decades, and she has a long history of diplomatic shrewdness to back that up.

Further, a nuclear exchange is the least likely between the superpowers, as all three countries have sufficient controls in place to avoid a Dr. Strangelove incident.

And, rivals or enemies, no one is planning on writing off millions of deaths for some trade or territorial squabble. No one.

Then there is the question of intercept missiles.

The more likely sources of a nuclear escape will be Pakistan, North Korea (to Japan), or somewhere in the Mideast with terrorist actors or rogue states.

I'd put my money on a terrorist attack on Europe going "hot" or nerve toxin at some point as regional immigration stress boils over.
