I have no one to tell my problem to...

Last November, I contracted urinary tract infection and I was referred to a specialist in the hospital.

After taking the antibiotics, I thought I am well. But then I have these urinary symptons..."couldn't pass urine normally after drinking lots of water, urine coming out from my body is weak and little"

So I want to do a follow-up appointment with the specialist but was told that all the appointment slots have been fully booked and taken up by other patients, and the earlierest date I can see the specialist is 20th May.

My last appointment is 25th March so it's like I have to wait 2-3 months for my next appointment.

It's ridiculous. And this happens every time I have a medical appointment at the hospital.

Every time I went to the hospital to see the urologist, I have to wait another 2-3 months for the next appointment.

Now, I'm just very worried, scared and frightened. I keep getting these recurrent infections from my urine test.

My first three urine tests..... white blood cells ....5 cells/ul ( normal range 0-6 cells/ul)

red blood cells.....0 cells/ ul ( normal range 0-3 cells/ul)

But my most two recent urine tests......white blood cells......10 cells/ul ( normal range 0-6 cells/ul)

red blood cells.....3 cells/ul ( normal range 0-3 cells/ul)

Right now, I can't eat well and sleep well. I worry every day. I just want to see the specialist immediately but I have to wait until May 20th.

I'm afraid my condition is very serious.

Right now, I'm not working at the moment. But I'm not sure if I should actively look for jobs now. Because I don't want to have a job, but my health problem affects my job that I have to constantly take leave and time off from work to see a doctor.

I was hoping that I can clear my health problem completely first before I look for a job.

What should I do know?

Should I look for a job first while waiting for my next appointment with the specialist?

Or should I just put aside the job hunting first?

Yes, I see the GP this week. He prescribed me antibiotics.

I have an appointment with the specialist from the hospital. But I have to wait till 20th May to see him.

I'm sick and tired of waiting and waiting to see the specialist. I phone call the hospital clinic many times, asking the nurse, "Can I bring forward my appointment?"

But each time she says No, because all the appointment slots have been fully booked.

I even come down personally to the hospital clinic once and request to bring forward my appointment. But still the nurse says all the slots have been fully booked. The earliest she can give me is May 11th but it will be with a medical officer, not a specialist.

And I say "no" because I prefer a specialist ( consultant) than a medical officer.

Did your GP refer you to the specialist? I suggest you call his nurse and ask them to try to get your specialist appointment moved up. They will usually accommodate a referring physician. Is there another urologist in your area you could try? Are the antibiotics should be working to eliminate the infection. If the stream is still slow, it may be another cause. What is your age? Most men eventually experience benign prostate enlargement which slows the stream. There are drugs that help. At the drug store you can buy AZO test strips which will tell you if you have an infection now.
When you see the urologist, he should be able to clear up the problem without frequent visits. I think you should start looking for a job.

If you were in medical crisis, you would have been given an earlier appointment. Having slightly elevated counts doesn't mean that you are dying. You just have recurring UTI's.

Get out there and hunt for work. Drink plenty of water. Stop worrying so much. Stop pestering the Doctor's receptionist.

Continue your job hunt.

The results you listed are abnormal but not anything that a GP would not be able to treat.

If you want, you can contact a different urologist and see if you can get in with them but unless you are running a fever or have abnormal labs, a 3 month followup is not unusual.

Yes, I was refered to the specialist by the GP.

It's no use. The only way I can bring forward my appointment is if somebody cancels their appointment and I take their timeslot.

I hope it's not benign prostate enlargement. I'm worried. I'm 32.

Thanks for the reply.

I do feel like having a fever two days ago. And I keep going to the toilet to urinate.

Could it be I didn't clean underneath my foreskin? Under my foreskin, there is a lot of white stuff, but I don't think that could be the cause of urinary tract infections

Do you have medical insurance take it your in the U.S.A.

No. I'm not from US.

I think I would want to request a cystoscopy when I visit the urologist.

Because I did an ultra sound, scan on my testicles, kidney and they all turned out normal.

The word that leaped out to me was "reoccurring". The white stuff under your foreskin is smegma, it happens to all guys, those with foreskins accumulate it, us cut guys collect it in our undies as it falls off.
This must be cleaned daily, but, I would guess that your problem with it being reoccurring is from masturbation. We all jack off, but we can get an infection in our u.t. if we don't piss when we are done, this washes out the urethra and leaves no fluids behind for bacteria to feast upon.
Clean under the foreskin and piss after ejaculation, drink lots of water as well. Good luck!

If you are worried about prostate cancer, restriction of flow is not usually a symptom. Relax, thats not likely at all. it is not likely to be more serious than an infection.

Infection sometimes causes a euretheral stricture, either a narrowing of the tube from inflammation or scar tissue. The doctor can widen the tube by inserting a thin metal "round" after applying lidocaine. Sounds bad but it is not.

Might I suggest drinking some cranberry juice; it's supposed to be good at getting rid of UTIs.

Doesn't sound like U.S. system because even with Obamacare now or no medical insurance, you can still find access to specialists much faster than 2-3 months of wait times.

Relax. you're working yourself up way too much. your lab results weren't terribly out of line and your ultrasound studies were normal. you sound like you might have a little ocd going on. I guarantee if the GP thought there was something serious happening they'd have gotten you in sooner. as mentioned drink plenty of water and you can try the cranberry juice. keep your foreskin clean and most importantly RELAX. you'll be just fine.

Wonder why people have to wait for so long to see these "specialists".
No competition for them i guess. Thats why people go to Thailand or India for excellent medical treatment.
These countries produce very high quality medical services.

Thanks for your advices. Yes I do masturbate a lot. I didn't know that you have to urinate immediately after you ejaculate.

I tend not to clean underneath my foreskin regularly. Can this be the cause of my recurring Urinary tract infections??

Thanks. Right now, I seem to urinate quite often. I just hope it's not serious.
