Waiting and Waiting to see the doctor

It is fine, normal.....at least that's what the urologists told me.
Great, that seems to eliminate the more serious problems you were worried about. Does the urologist agree it is a urinary tract infection. Are you still having symptoms? Has the doctor ever mentioned the possibility of prostatitis?

After the scope, I asked the urologists (there are two of them) about the result.

They said it's completely fine, no blockage, no stricture in my urinary system.

I ask them what about my prostrate blocking the urinary system.....

They said there's no sign of my prostrate blocking the urinary tract. At my age, I'm too young to have enlarged prostrate.

Okay. I don't quite understand this.

Last week, after the scope, I don't feel well and I need to keep going to the toilet to urinate.

The general lab result shows that I have 126 white blood cells/ul and 8 red blood cells/ul in my urine.

But the microbiology lab result shows that there is no significant bacteria growth in my urine.

How could that be?

I assume white blood cells in urine means there is an infection....most likely caused by bacteria.

Anyway, I went to the polyclinic yesterday and did a urine test.

There is still about 25 white blood cells/ ul in my urine. The normal range is 0-6 white blood cells/ul.

The general practitioner gave me another week of "Augmentin" to take.

Why did I keep having all these white blood cells in my urine?

That is outside my experience. Your doctors apparently are not concerned. I think you need to trust them.

Travis, you have all these doctor visits, so why are you asking us the questions you should be asking them?

Sorry, sorry.

Lately, while having a shower, I masturbate and my semen is very brown. There is still some milky white but there is a lot of brown/greyish?? in the semen.

I'm very scared. I don't understand why. I am due to see the urologist in three weeks time.

The brown is probably caused by blood. Was there any bleeding at or after your cystoscopy? It might have caused a small cut or something which your masturbating is opening. I think you should calm yourself by calling the doctors office and asking the nurse to ask the doctor or give you an appointment sooner. But don't be scared. As many times as the doctors have seen you lately, there is little chance of anything serious. Trust your doctors. And, lay off masturbating for a week or so and see if the problem does not stop.

I think most doctors would want to be informed of unexpected bleeding following a procedure. A doctor who will not talk to you but makes you wait 3 months does not seem professional. Where do you live?

I already have "brown" in my semen before the cystoscopy. It was during the period where I got urinary tract infection.

The "brown" comes and goes. But it wasn't a lot during that time.

After the cystoscopy, when I pee, I didn't notice blood. When I masturbate, the semen was normal.....milky white.

It's only recently, "the brown" in my semen returned. I don't understand why.

I can't bring forward my appointment because all the appointments slots are fully booked.

There are also other patients waiting to see the doctor.

Actually, I already have the "brown strain" in my semen many months ago. Then it went away. But now it came back again.

I'm very scared and worried.

Can you call the nurse and ask her to ask the doctor about the blood in the semen? Since you previously had the brown when you had the urinary infection, this brown may be a return of infection. Can you not see your regular doctor while waiting for the urologist? Can you ask either doctor for a refill of the antibiotic given to you for the infection? I really do not think there is any reason for you to be scared or worried. The problem can be cured if you can see a doctor.

Just my luck....the recent general practitioner that I saw was a female.

When I told her my condition, she doesn't look very concerned or interested.

She didn't even bother to give me a rectal probe exam. Not that I want to be physically examined by a female.

But the fact is she didn't even suggest or bring up the idea of giving me a rectal probe exam.

I made a drawing of my semen with brown stuff on a piece of paper and show it to her. She took a quick glance and doesn't look interested at all.

The worst thing is she refuse to prescribe any antibiotics for me to clear up the brown in my semen, knowing that I have to wait at least three more weeks to see the urologist.

I should have requested for a male doctor.

You experience should confirm that this is not regarded by the doctors as a serious problem. It should not be a reason for you to be scared.

I did a quick Google search for "brown semen" and what I read pretty much said there's not much to worry about. there are many different causes but the vast majority of them are benign. try to calm down and not stress so much. several different doctors have examined you and they dont seem to be terribly concerned. I know it's frustrating but the more you worry the worse you're going to feel. good luck. I hope this clears up soon and you can put it behind you.

Steven

Thanks for all your advices.

Latest updates: These past few days, when I masturbate and ejaculate, there is no "brown" stuff in my semen. My semen is milky, white and mostly clear like water.

I'm kinda glad and relieved.

I masturbate on Monday and Wednesday. And both times, my semen is normal and clear. No sign of "brown stuff" in my semen.

But I don't know. I'm scared that the "brownish" colouring will return back in my semen one day.

The brownish blood is not regarded by your doctors as serious, so relax.

Wow Travis, I just read all this stuff. I cannot believe you allow this to go on for months. You should expect your GP to see you the same day.. worst case next day. Dont talk to his nurse, you not paying to see her.. besides it is none of the nurse's business. and also do not allow the nurse get between you and the doctor. When you get to the doctors rooms and the nurse say 'can i help you'.. say sure tell the doctor i want to see him.. if she asks what about.. tell her its none of her business.. if she says he is busy then wait for the previous patient to walk out then you get up and walk in.. if she protests that GP is busy.. tell her to mind her own business, ignore her and go in anyway.

Talk to the doctor only.. If the doctor is still a little bored then ask him directly how much money he wants, to make it possible for him to see you today..

if he still wont see you then he is no good or disinterested and find another doctor that is interested.

Again.. don't talk to the nurse.. if you phone and she asks what you want to see him about.. tell her that it's none of her business and to put you through.

Then when he sees you, remember that you are the customer (the boss - the boss is the one doing the paying) and he is the service provider (the one working for the money you are paying him).. Don't leave his office until he has answered all of your questions to your satisfaction.

Don't let him cover his ass / fob you off to a urologist.. This is a money making ploy.. you get to pay the GP and you get to pay the urologist. Ask the GP why he has so little confidence in his medical ability that he feels the need to send you elsewhere. If he starts making excuses like a blubbering idiot then you really need another more capable doctor, one that is confident in his ability to fix your UTI all on his own in about 4 days flat using the correct antibiotics.

If he is doing his job right.. he should offer you about 3 or 4 alternative antibiotics.. You should expect him to discuss the primary and side effects of each and why the one he chooses is the best for you currently.

Also, as others have said, clean yourself properly at least once, or in need twice every day, yes, wash it diligently with soap and water.. get all the white stuff off.. top and bottom, and in need you can also bathe your dickhead, in fact you can clean your entire dick in a gentle solution of salt water.. that should get the bacteria running for their lives.

Last thing.. pay the GP in real cash.. no he doesn't want your medical aid or credit card.. he wants cash that he can put in his back pocket and not have to pay tax on.

Another thing.. if you don't want to wait to see your doctor.. then spare him having to deal with the medical aid and wait 6 months to be paid less 30% and then still be taxed on it... just pay him cash in notes on the 4th day when the infection has gone.. and don't be a wop and go give any money to the nurse.. give it to the doc in his hands without the nurse seeing it.. If he does a good job give him a good tip as well.. maybe 20% to show your appreciation.. always remember that he is a service technician that you are paying by the hour to provide medical services to yourself..

So many people pussyfoot around doctors.. doctors are there for your benefit.. not the other way around.. well from your perspective anyway.. if the doctor does not do his job promptly and efficiently.. fire him and get one that does respect you and the money you pay him.

^Dr's are certainly not "service technicians", as for the practice nurse, it is her business to know about the health concerns of the practices patients.

As for "bribing" the Dr with cold hard cash, really?

I am thankfull that i work in a country with universal health care.

A GP will refer you to a specialist Dr for more intensive testing, this is how it is done.

His long delays and lack of an answer would seem to discredit the NH system.
