Waiting and Waiting to see the doctor

I have had 3 episodes of UTI. I drink cranberry juice and take the supplements, take probiotic capsules and eat yogurt. My doctor has given me a prescription to keep a supply of Cipro antibiotic on hand, but I have only taken it on his instructions. I take it with me when I travel. I am aware of the danger of using antibiotics excessively, and cannot be sure that I would recognize it without consulting a doctor. But it gives me confidence that I can begin treatment immediately if the need arises. You might ask you doctor for a prescription for a supply, since it would relieve your anxiety.

Very nice! you never stop to teach me things guys ^_^. Never tried cranberries cause we generally use here a remedy which was already mentioned by François Rabelais in the XVI century: alpine berberries aka Uva Ursi. I tried it once for a painful cystitis and in my individual case the result was beyond my expectations ..|

How do you know for sure that you had UTI?

The classic symptons are frequency of urinating?? burning sensation of urinating?

So if I don't have a high frequency of urinating......and when I pee, I don't really have a burning sensation.....just a little bit warm.....does that mean I don't have UTI??

So I went to the clinic to do a urine test today.

The result.....there is white blood cells and red blood cells in my urine. But they are within normal range.

white blood cells in my urine.....3 cells/ul ( Normal range is 0-6 cells/ul)

red blood cells in my urine.....3 cells/ul (Normal range is 0-3 cells/ul)

I was worried and concerned because I thought there should 0 red blood cells and 0 white blood cells in my urine.

I wanted my urine sample to be sent for the laboratory test but the doctor said it's not necessary.

He said my white blood cells and red blood cells are within normal range and it doesn't always have to be 0 white blood cells and 0 red blood cells.

He wrote a referral letter and referred me to see a psychiatrist.

I don't understand. My last urine test......0 red blood cells 0 white blood cells.

Why is it now there is 3 white blood cells and 3 red blood cells in my urine?

Is it normal and okay to have a little bit of white blood cells and red blood cells in my urine?

Each time, it was diagnosed by a physician, twice by a urologist. Each time it was much different. First time with high fever and some chills. Extremely sluggish with fever any movement too much. Second time with extremely violent shakes like the chills but no fever. Third time, pain in the prostate area and some blood in the urine. No fever, no shakes. Each time it was quickly cured by antibiotics, Cipro or Leviquin.

You need to learn to trust your doctor. He says you are OK. Try to stop worrying.

A UTI is an infection. An indicator of infection would mean that there would be bacteria in your urine. A small amount of white or red blood cells in the urine is common enough to be considered normal.

That would be a wise thing to do.

But he is a physican/general practitioner, not a urologist.

I'm not sure if I can trust him or not.

Ask the psychiatrist at your appointment with him.

A UTI is a very common problem and a relatively simple bacterial infection, treatable with antibiotics, well within the competence and experience of a General Practitioner.

Just wondering, is being uncut ( uncircumcised) the reason you kept getting UTI ??

Sorry. I just assume. I don't know if you're cut or uncut.

Could it be due to the diet which cause me to get UTI?

I have been trying to eat "clean". I eat soy beans and rice. I wash the raw soy beans with water and cook them with white rice.

My mother says it's not healthy to eat boiled soy beans. Nobody eat it like that.

Should I listen to my mother's advice and stop eating boiled soy beans??

Boiling would kill the germs, so i doubt that soy is related to the UTI.

So last week I went back to the polyclinic for another urine test.

The result is white blood cells 3 cells/ul (Normal range is 0-6 cells/ul)

Red blood cells 0 cells/ul (Normal range is 0-3 cells/ul)

I requested for a urine culture test. Today I went back to get the result.

The culture test result is.....insignificant, mixed bacteria growth in my urine.

The doctor says it's normal. She says everybody will have a little bit of bacteria in their urine. She says that I don't have to worry since it's insignificant.
