Hetero world is much more difficult if you want to get laid. Guys have to work harder to impress a girl, to win a date, to get laid. There is so much effort, stress and game involved that I don't envy that world at all. If you're an average bloke, the odds are against you more so than if your an average gay bloke.

Another advantage is that there is no expectation to raise a family for fabulous people. Being responsible to feed not only yourself but a set of kids and then having to dedicate your life to turn them into productive members of society is hardest mission that life can throw at you.

Personally, I think the dynamic between males is far superior to males/females. Of course that could be a con to some, but I see a mans perspective more than a womans.

Women, I've noticed, are a lot more needy. They seek attention. Of course this is a generalization, but I'm commenting from what type of relationship issues I've seen with basically all my straight friends. They're with their woman 95% of the time, even when they don't want to be. Plus they can't even go to the grocery store to get milk with a text screaming "WHERE ARE YOU?"

Also, like some others have said, the need for gender roles is completely depleted. While I'm aware there's women who reject these ideas that they should cook, be the caretakers, and let their man be the main bread-winners, it's usually the most common dynamic seen in the heterosexual household. Fuck that. People of the same gender seem to be more balanced.

The Maury show is filled with men claiming that women got pregnant in order to trap their ghetto, "no job having" asses. I always sit there and think that these men must think that they are professional ball players or something. It was a miracle for them to even get laid.

As far as the imprisonment due to unpaid child support: Someone should tell my cousin this. Since being divorced from her abusive ex husband she hasn't recieved one red cent and he is jail-free, out making other children.

Definitely agree with you that this mindset you describe has very accurately characterized a lot of male-female doublestandard for a long time... but I think it's changing. I think this idea that "a girl you can easily sleep with isn't the one you ask to go steady" is a little old and I'll be honest-- a lot of my straight friends are with girlfriends that "got with them a little eyebrow-raisingly fast", at least to me or compared to what I was expecting. And I know I shouldn't assume but it always worries me when they have a girlfriend like that only because the track record has so often been that a girl a straight friend of mine meets and has sex with very early usually winds up having some kind of baggage that unfolds on them... overneedy, overclingy, emotionally unstable, something like that. The current ones seem nice though.

While I do continue to think it's generally true that there's a lot less "ritual" about being able to have sex as two guys, I do think the days of going out with a girl for two weeks before "anything happens" is all but dying out.

I was going to say while I understood the point of the article was to scare deadbeat dads or guys who whine about how hard it is to wear a condom... my overwhelming impression from single moms (including many mothers of my friends growing up) has been that actually collecting child support against someone who doesn't want to pay it or hides their income to avoid it is so difficult and requires so much legal effort that many people understandably give up on it with a deadbeat dad who is going out of his way to not make it easy.

Point taken (yes there are dads who identify as gay), but the answer applies to my own situation which is indeed being 100% gay, which is not as common. Being 100% gay, that advantage does apply to me absolutely.

How do child support laws work, in a State-by-State, versus Federal, arrangement? Is it the individual states which have the child support laws, or does it involve federal law? Or does it become federal as soon as the liable person leaves the state where the "ex" lives? I'm rather surprised I don't know this.

If it's state by state, it would depend on how much priority each state thinks this is. Also, if it's state by state, I would strongly assume that "redder" states are far less likely to have strong child support laws.
