Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

I feel your pain. Transmissions are not cheap. I am also agonizing about my car. We used to get 150,000 miles out of cars, but now we expect more out of some Japanese makes. My car has 145,000 miles but is a Toyota and I should expect over 200,000 or more miles. I have spent well over $500 this year already and my air conditioning went and I was told I should get new tires before winter. I am trying to figure what to do about it. So far I am living without car air conditioning in this hot weather.

Get the new tires. Safety is important. Good tires help in all kinds of weather. A/C is more about comfort and your weather conditions seasonally. Brutal hot and humid times, then fix A/C otherwise just open the car windows.
 
Just was reading a text alert from my town and utility company that they will be venting natural gas into the air for approximately 15 minutes on my block./street.

Are they trying to get even with me? :mad:

Today I had to cancel my credit card and ask for a new one. Yesterday our garage door spring broke and we couldn't open our garage door.

There was some confusion about what company came out and fixed the door and they wouldn't take a check and it had to go onto my credit card for just over $1,800. They said that they were Garage and Gate Door company and Titan Garage Doors had subcontracted them. Although we had talked to Titan we hadn't agreed for them to come out, instead had expected another company. The receipt sent to my email ended up being from Ohio Door Services and didn't have a company address nor any detail. The fact that the company was using 3 different company names and hadn't actually been contracted to do the job bothered us, but the work was done satisfactorily. Today my sister called the phone number on the receipt and it was for an acupuncture internet company. At that point she said that I should cancel my credit account and get a new one and I agreed with her. The work was done, but I can imagine my credit card information going out on the internet and me getting large charges on my card from Russia or India or who knows. I'll have a new account in about a week.
 
Had the electrician come in to update the panel for the new furnace and hot water heater that will be installed next week. Now have to label the panel. I will put together a schematic of the house and go through to find out which breaker goes to which room, appliance, plug and ceiling lights I have to label the panel before the inspector comes in to sign off on the work next month.
 
Sipping coffee. I bought a bag of Marylou's Coffee on my trip to Massachusetts. It's a local brand and it's really good.
