  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

Just looked at a thread on another forum. I was reminded of a post I made the other day, thanking someone for sharing information. As I typed that full speed ahead, I accidentally typed sharting instead of sharing. Fortunately, I caught it barely in time before clicking the submit button. Another reminder--like I needed it--that I should be a little more careful with proofreading the crap stuff I post.

Despairing.

Despite my precautions, my mother's bed seems to have been infected by bedbugs.

Likely from Paris, that likely came to her home with me.

Now I am at my sister's apartment, which I have checked for bedbugs and whose bed linen is in the dryer now.

I suspect that you'll need to do much more than launder a few sheets to get rid of bed bugs. They'll be in cracks in the walls and floors, under the mattress, inside furniture, all over really. You may need to get the whole house treated professionally.

Ontario had a wicked infestation of bed bugs about a decade ago and a guest of ours from Toronto brought them with him and the infested my bedroom.

It took a professional to get them under control.

Is it common in the U.K.?

It is in France (and other nations).

They actually sell bedbug spray in the stores.

Moskou too apparently.

I had a problem with scabiës and no-one could tell me how to get rid of it.

Crabs at Dutch chemists, they don't even know what it is.

I'd rather give it a go myself, before I shell out many thousands of euros on imposters.

Been there, done that. It was awful. I'm so glad it's now been several years bedbug- free.

Warning: avoid Norristown, Pennsylvania. It's an awful place anyway but I'm sure coworkers from there passed bedbugs to me back in the day

As for me now: relaxing in air conditioning. But I will head out to return a library book due today. The main library closes at 8 pm, my local branch closes at 5.

The family home had gotten bedbugs 8 years ago. Picked up by dad from the senior center. It get rid of them, ,thew out the mattress, all clothes in the house had to be taken to the laundry and cleaned, some dry cleaned, and having a professional come in to fumigate the house. Everyone had to move to a hotel for the night. The first floor had the most bedbugs, but the upstairs had some, so had the whole house fumigated.

Get professional products from an exterminators supply. Ordinary bug killers like Hot Shot are OK but less effective. You did right washing linens. A regular wash cycle with high heat drying kills bedbugs

I have this incredibly whiny passive aggressive client project manager who only ever wants to thwo up problems and obstacles but pretends he is all about teamwork.

I asked him to organize something last week and he just ignored me and then tried to fuck me around in the meeting this afternoon, so I called him out on it and threatened to send his boss the emails from last week where I had asked him to get input from the party that would be most affected. Long story short, he called the person in the middle of our meeting who basically agreed with me that it was no big deal to do a temp workaround and would look at it to advise the preferred approach.

I am thinking more and more that I may need to have him removed from the project.

Making plans. Next week, I having am having the electrical panel bought up to code for the installation of the furnace and hot water replacement, so, I will do yard work while the electricity is out. I cannot sit around and have nothing to do. My day off.

About to measure my mother's mattress to order her a bedbug proof cover.

Also considering to buy a bedbug steaming device, which will cost me most of what I have, but will -to some extent at least- work.

Kind of detached today.

Ended up with a recurrence of a viral infection (a real problem since COVID) and have felt like shit for over a week but at least I am now on anti-virals and hopefully on the mend.

Just got back from the Nail Salon. Now that I am overweight and old I have trouble trimming my toe nails, so I went to a salon to get them cut. I am about to go to the mall to walk because it is too hot outside to walk now.
Nothing wrong with you going to the nail salon. Doesn't make you gay or anything.

I know a lot of pest control companies use diatomaceous earth for long term results. They will take off every plug cover and switchplate cover and put the powder behind the walls.

After sprays, bombs, and steaming it adds extra insurance they don't come back.

You can also use it anywhere where there is no moisture or airflow. Nooks and crannies along baseboards and such. Inside cabinets etcetera.

My nephew and his wife moved into a brand new condo and became infested from a neighbor.

Anyway. Good luck.
