So now I'm missing a medication cuz porch pirates and fedex won't let me have a password reset so I can sign in and ake a claim. bah humbug

I am recommending a new welcome mat for you.

Oh. And get the mastiff as well.

I'm thinking of a crossword puzzle clue I saw:

"Silent but deadly sort."

My Inner Seventh Grader immediately had an answer, but, as it turns out, the correct answer was not "FART."

Well I have to confess that I am drinking alcohol content Merlot after a staggering week.

In bed resting up for an early workday at the Keukenhof. My last public one as the park closes on Sunday. (I'll be cleaning up there for two weeks more).

^ God, I remember the last time my Frisian mother and my (anglo-canadian) father were there.

Still have their photos and their fond memories of it in May!

I saw it it summer.

Would love to visirt again.

Home away from home.

off for a short nap before we have to go to a benefit dinner later.

Up early making coffee. I have a lot of chores that I've been neglecting.

Oh, no, coffee will just make it worse.

Yes, neglecting chores can be exhausting, but it's much easier if you can get those chores right out of your head completely. Have you tried booze?

Just did the walk-around with our arborist...the first day he's had clear since the ice storm to come and have a look.

We are figuring about $15K to clear up all the shattered trees around our lawns and gardens, although I think we will just burn the piles around the yard and contribute to global warming.

I am undecided whether to even bother re-planting the orchard. 15 out of 20 trees destroyed. It isn't that we'll never see the next generation of trees mature...but I am not sure we we will
even be able to nurse them along.

Next week, the team that monitors our conservation agreement will do a tour of the other 196 acres...the good news from what I see in the stands we planted just to the west of the lawns
is that the trees less than 20 years seem to have survived with only limited damage.

Can't you just make fire wood out of them?

Also the CO2 that made those trees came the atmosphere; you're just sending it back.

Or you could try Hügelkultur and make raised beds out of the trunks and limbs?

OT: In bed, resting from working and hung over from the work party last night.

We already have about 10 years of firewood stacked from all the ash trees killed by borers.

Unfortunately most of the limbs and branches (or even larger trees are shattered and I see only one or tqo maples that might still have some useable sections...which we will give to our neighbour who makes
furniture and trim.

Today, I have sat in the same conference hall since 8 am until 5 pm...including for a buffet lunch listening to speakers from around the globe.

I am now ready to hit the bar for a glass of very expensive wine and a burger and then tuck in and read my mystery novel I brought with me.

Tomorrow's start is at 7am.

I remember reading an argument in, I think, Mother Earth News about heating with wood being favorable environmentally. Yes, there are emissions, but in order for the system to work, one has to keep planting trees, which help clean up the air. Unlike fossil fuels, which can get yanked from the earth and burned, with potentially nothing to offset the emissions.
