  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

I was just looking at an on-line restaurant menu. The dessert section was marked: "Sweet endings" or something like that. My Inner 7th Grader is now amusing himself imagining a restaurant that labels the desserts "Happy Endings."

Watching Jaws on the CW.

I didn't remember Roy Schneider being that handsome.

He was 42-43 during the filming. Very handsome man. Sad that cancer got him.

Thank you.

It was a wonderful party.

Got stuff for my wonderful folding pool (filter + pump and other cleaning items). Also powdered plantain and dried passion fruit from my ex (the guy with whom I saw Corny, treanir and Geloge with, all those years ago (13+).

And I'm sure I've forgotten a thing or two.

It's 2025 now actually July and I have my 71st birthday in a couple weeks and one of my sons will be turning 38 a couple days before my birthday. We are getting together on the 26th to open some presents and I got this really funny card for him. It's gotta go on the outside and on the inside it opens up and the goat lose his head screaming. It's so funny so I had to get it. He needs to laugh anyway I try to make us close but we aren't. I guess you can't make another person. Love you even if they are related to you. He has a twin brother also who we haven't seen for going out for years. We don't know where he is well, I don't know where he is. I live very, very close to Columbus Ohio a big gay community. I used to march in the parade every year. I worked first small university and we would always form committees to go in March. Students like it.

But still, I don't have any friends who are gay all my friends straight women. That's fine, but you can't really be yourself around straight women even if they're very liberal. So very hard turning 71 and not have any real friends or friend to do it with. It's been 17 years since I was in a relationship with a guy and we lasted 13 years. I not a rich man by any means so it's difficult for me to find anybody because they might wanna be wind and dying. The most I can do would be give them a coke. I sure would like to at least to be a friend, and a really good looking with lots of hair all over his body....

Just going to complain.

I walked around the block for exercise this morning and there were 3 pieces of mail on the street. I picked them up and put them into the mailbox they belonged in, about 3 or 4 houses up from where they were lying. It is possible that they blew out of the mailbox earlier, or it is possible that they were delivered to the wrong box and someone decided that since it wasn't their mail, they just threw it into the street. We have had mail delivered to the wrong house more than once before.

I had a bank CD expire yesterday and wanted to take it out of that bank and put it into a bank across the street where it would be more accessible. The banker gave me all kinds of good options to keep it in the bank it was in, except I would have to have at least 8 withdrawals from my attached checking account each month and I sometimes don't, or else it wouldn't be accessible for 6 or more months. I went home to think about it. Today I went back to the bank to withdraw it anyway and had to wait 10 minutes to talk to a banker and then they tried to find one of their accounts to work for me. Even though they offered a higher interest rate, it wasn't as accessible. It took me 45 minutes there before I was able to pry my money out of their bank. I still need to go to the other bank to open a new account there. I am not planning on using my money for 6 or more months, but my car is giving me some signs that I may need to replace it sooner rather than later, so I do need the money accessible for a down payment for a new car, just in case.

Crikey! That's a big step. Have you given notice before being offered another position to go to, or is this your retirement from the world of work?
Yes, it is.

I was planning on waiting until I reached 67, two and a half years from now.

But, I'm working for a PM I'm not able to feel good about supporting, and the upper management has gotten worse.

I'd rather have half a million dollars less income and not have the bother. I'm going to work on getting my house ready and sold, and moving back to my home state within four months to a year. My only uncle has prostate cancer at 80, and has been very active. He may be fine, but his wife is a drunk and I anticipate the need to be near to help when and if the need arises. He lives about 90 minutes from where I plan to buy, as do my siblings.

I'm not excited about retiring, but I am at peace.

I was offered a job in PM today, but I told him if I'm moved in a year and they still need help, I might consider it. If I do as well as anticipated on my home sale, I may stay retired.

Well, the very best of luck. I hope everything works out for you.

You are doing the right thing. I quit long before I could afford to but no regrets. Money cannot buy back the time you waste doing something that makes you unhappy.

Thank you, both. I've worked for this company for 15 years, and in this aerospace and defense industry since 1986.

I've worked for LTV, Loral, Lockheed Martin, Goodrich Aerospace/United Technologies, Boeing, and a couple of small companies.

I've worked more years than any of my siblings.

I cannot stay in Alabama any longer than I must. And I have increasing anxiety working for anyone in the military industrial complex with the horrific support of Israel as she murders and starves her neighbors. My specific job actually has been supporting the Patriot missile now for many years, but even though it is defensive, the companies involved are just hogs at the trough of military bloat.

After I get clear of Tommy Tuberville's land o' ignorance, I have a long list of hobbies and interests in retitrement.
