  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

Make sure that the rum is allowed to evaporate!

Had two meetings away today and tried to catch up on a few things after.

Off for a conference for the rest of the week, but I am always working even while I am there...I hate conferences now, but have to attend.

Siting in a recliner with a mug of hot tea and a Sunbeam heating pad.

Caught a chill outside.

Sitting through conference sessions, handling emails and re-posting shit.

At the hotel after the day finished up...have had a nice (warm....hotels all seem to regulate the hot water to meh now) long shower and plan on going down for dinner at around seven.

Moules et frites with a nice dry California white maybe.

Discovering that the Ignore function doesn't work for feedback emojis. Still seeing sarcastic responses.

I made hot cardamom tea with the husks of the pods I had just shelled last week, and it was wonderful.

Not a funny meme, but real evidence of the disgust of Americans at the relentless assault on the working class being forced to pay more for insurance and get less covverage.

Presumably the CEO didn't deserve assassination, but as the elite in an abusive industry, the others need to worry. This was not a solo act:

I ended up doing work-work today, including calling out a purposeful missinterpretation of a report.

I don't have the patience or the time left to be dealing with this low level shit, so let them know that their prevarication at this point was a waste of time and our collective energy.

I hope they are attacked by intestinal parasites.

Watching the Mormon Christmas program. It always seems odd, the mixture of Broadway performers and singers, alternation of secular pop music with German hymns, and the demographics represented.

This year, what stands out the most is the very obvious dearth of young people in either the audience or the orchestra or choir. The average age is well over 40. I literally see less than 10 in the camers pans in an auditorium filled with thousands.

It seems ironic, considering the fact that LDS has such large families of children. Not even the audience has children I can see, yet the content is sometimes aimed at children.

I imagine it doesn't portend any slip in the Mormon numbers, but more likely an issue of status. You proabaly have to have some seniority to get in, to be in the choir or orchestra. Just a hunch, based on the missionaries I knew and the very prevalent deference to age within LDS.

And secondly, there seems to be a very palpable German influence in the music and the air.

What a day. started with 7am Zoom meetings with my man in Vienna and then a marathon of Teams and Zoom meetings for the rest of the day...and in between, trying to finish a report to go out on Friday before Krimblemas.

And my kidz had me awake this morning at about 4:30 am and I have a fucking weather headache.

Sooooo...what were you rehearsing? Something krismassy?
Of course. The lamest Christmas carols ever.
After I left, the choir went on with a contemporary piece that is due to première on Monday. They'll need a lot of work there LOL

^ I am sure the crowd will love it.

Meanwhile today, I am being deluged with year end 'good news' about various projects that just translates to horrible news for me because of extra work etc.

So it is 3:45. I am drinking a nice Tuscan red before we have early supper and then go to pick up our turkey for Christmas dinner.
