Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

Just got back from walking the track at the city rec. center. It was busy. The basketball courts were busy and also the pickle ball courts and the exercise machines and weights. Only the bocce courts were empty. Although, they are closing at noon today. Earlier I went to Dunkin Donuts to buy my breakfast and coffee and was surprised that they will be open for awhile tomorrow.

Just got done frosting a banana layer cake. Wasn't supposed to cook but my Nephews wife asked me to make a big tray of Cauliflower Au Gratin so I made that ready to go into the oven.

Cauliflower heads were so small I ended up steaming 9 heads. From ShopRite. I should have gone to the produce store.

My mom made me cauliflower salad yesterday that was really good. She makes great potato salad but I’m on a low carb diet and the cauliflower salad was just as good, if not better. I told her it would be a good potluck dinner choice.

Yeah I am as well lowering carbs and less salt as well. I did whole roasted carrots the other day with just a pinch of salt and olive oil.

When they came out some balsamic vinegar and honey. Very good. Eating a bit cleaner.

Cauliflower salad sound good. Been roasting fresh beets as well.

We have been finishing the prep for the family arriving for Christmas Day.

And I am now glugging a horrible wine that our neighbours dropped off as a Season's Greetings.

So. we are so fucking exhausted from the prep for family Christmas dinner and a day with two boys 9 and 5 and 4 other overstimulated adults and then boxing day with my 100 year old aunt that we have have just curled up into a nap ball like our cats.

Feeling the long Covid effects so hard...it has taken 2 days to even clear and execute the dishwashing from the christmas dinner.

It used to be that on the 26th, we would wake up, have the christmas dinner stuff all washed by the time sister and BIL woke up, serve them breakfast and then bake up two pans of Martha's scallloped potatoes (use Only heavy cream) and then off to the big family event for the afternoon and evening.

Now it is a challenge to make a turkey sandwich for supper.

I understand the plateaus that my grandparents reached as they handed over Christmas to my parents...and my parents to us as they aged.....

I'm listening to people arguing downstairs. They're friends of my homeowner and I do like them...but not like this. I'm staying upstairs, thanks.

Just home from a morning shopping trip. Surprisingly very quiet out. Went to Starbucks, Target, the drugstore to empty out my flex spending account before the end of the year, the grocery store, the pet store and McDonald’s for a breakfast steak bagel

Baking Jam and Mincemeat tarts for my partner. It was part of my Christmas present this year :rotflmao:

I no longer have a fucking clue what to get him (and him me), so I just write a cheque and let him choose what he wants to do with it through the year because he knows what he needs and wants before I do and he neither needs or wants for anything....but tarts...that is the one thing I am still able to produce as an act of love.

Clearing out emails. My car is starting to rumble so I took it in. They said that they have replaced almost everything in my exhaust system in the past except the y-pipe that goes into the catalytic converter. Depending on if they have to replace the sensors or not it could cost $670 to $1046. I guess that I need to bite the bullet and do it. My car is 17 years old but only has 140,000 miles on it. I did recently look at some new cars but have backed off of that idea.

It has snowed a little and my brother skidded past the driveway and had to back up.

Finishing the 2 day workweek with a glass of red wine.

Everyone probably saw the "Today is the Mondayist Thursday Ever" meme yesterday and I have to confess that I was surprised and annoyed at how many peopel were nback at work yesterday, but today, I had to actually travel for a business meeting...AND...then come back home and do some work this afternoon.

Nothing should have happened until the 6th.

Although it's cheaper than a new car!

I remember my father had a car that had a number of repairs as it go older and more than 200K miles. One day, we talked about it, and he commented he liked spending $500 here and there in hopes it would put off car payments.

Resting in my hotel room at Marietta, watching the services at The Carter Center, listening to the family eulogize the ex-president.

I worked at a mortuary after college, but still shed tears as the Morehouse College Glee Clug sang The Navy Hymn as President Carter was brought in by the color guard and set on the bier.

Thankful the day is sunny and bright and for the sun streaming in on the services. The Washington ceremonies won't be as kind with snow and bitter weather.

We just dropped about 3K on our 11 year old Pilot because we like it so much and have found no other vehicle in its class that even comes close, including the newer Pilots. Not Jeep. Not Merc. Not Cadillac. Not Lincoln. None of them.

And yeah. It was about 3 months of payments on a new one, so there's that. Even if we get another 6 or 7 months, that is still a savings.

I'm bored and horny. First day off to myself: No needing to visit with anyone, no family responsibilities, no gym... a day 100% just to myself. Wanted to find a guy to have some fun with, the apps are all dead, dead, dead... probably gonna get stoned, watch some porn and finger myself. Gotta get back to the gym tomorrow and get ready for the office.
