  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

I've seen almost all the ATK episodes, so don't watch as much now. Noticed Bridget and Julia setting up a beef tenderloin program yesterday and changed channels. Do we NEED recipes for beef tenderloin?
That tenderloin recipe, yes! I’m going to try it. It looked amazing when they were done

Oh, every one of their recipes is good, but my point was that's it's a whole beef tenderloin, a cut of meat between $120 and $300, depending on where and when you buy it.

It's gilding the lily.

Not only can very, very few afford it, by definition, it's literally the best cut of beef there is, so anything you do with it, short of ruining it, should be wonderful.

That's said, ATK is in the business of showing how to do process, for every food, so it is legitimate programming, even on beef tenderloin. I'm just much more interested in a sous vide video that shows how to make chuck as tender as filet mignon, or how to deal with cooking tongue. More impressive.

Post pics when you've done the deed.

And, for the record, I remember watching that episode in its entirety before, complete with butcher diagram.

Although I'm convinced we go through episodes of mineral craving, or other such nutrients, and our body somehow knows to turn on our appetite for the necessary food to supply it.

Makes sense to me.

I mean, after all, those elephants know to go up that mountain path, into that cave, to eat the clay to get their minerals. You can't tell me our DNA isn't likewise programmed to turn on the Bean Seeker.

Now I have an urge to get a salt lick.

In bed (but no sex) with a friend in Antwerp. We experienced the end of the Ensor year. James Ensor was a Belgian artist (with a British father) from Ostend (on the Belgian coast) where my friend is from originally.

My parents had a catalogue of an art exhibition that had Hop-Frog's Revenge in it, and I've finally succeeded in seeing it two days ago...

Feeling accomplished now.

When I came here earlier, I got an Alert/notice that someone had posted in a wine thread here. I don't think I ever posted in that thread, but I had posted in a thread that got merged into that thread last week, which is, I presume, why I got the Alert. I looked at the posting, and once again was reminded of one reason I avoid that thread: I don't have the resources for or background with $$$$$ wines. Once again, I mourn the newer thread, which I had hoped would bring up some conversation about wines that might actually be viable for those of us whose means don't permit $$$$ wines.

Nothing is stopping you from posting about cheap wines in that thread.

I am soaking up a lovely Merlot after practising 'mindfullness' today.

The furnace at the office did not meet its infrastructure obligations today and working around this, I had to deal with 4 different clinet Zooms and 11 different projects today.

Something similar happened to me. Several years ago I thought there needed to be an alternate thread to the Share Your Earworms thread. My thinking was that earworms are songs stuck in your head, often songs you don't particularly like, so why not have a thread for songs you really do like? So I started a thread called Songs Worth Sharing. It was going along well until the mods decided to move it to the Entertainment Forum, which most people don't bother to go to, where it languishes due to inactivity.

OK, since I'm here, I guess I'd might as well answer the original question posed. Right now I guess I'm Jubbing. It might be an old person's affliction, but have you ever had those times when your brain has a hard-on all day, but the cock can't seem to get in gear? Well, that's happening to me right now. I'm looking at the porn threads, enjoying what I'm seeing, but it doesn't seem the equipment downstairs is kicking in for me.

Technically--according to my understanding of site rules--no.

But--being realistic--those of you with wine cellars and who consider a $50 wine to be an "every day wine" would probably not be interested in hearing about a $3.99 Bay Bridge wine found at a Kroger store...

For that matter, if I were to post: "i can afford a special occaison $10 wine--can someone suggest something?" I'd probably get no suggestions.

Let's be honest. Any post I might make in the wine thread would be as "welcome as a "turd in a punchbowl."

Come to think of it...that probably sums most posts I'd make in any threat. Sigh...

Watching a woodpecker collecting nuts out of my bird feeder and storing them in a nearby tree that he put a hole in.
