  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

Resting between tasks.

Made dough for pecan tassies this morning, then ran errands, and got home and baked a salmon filet. Did two loads of laundry.

Repaired a favorite belt that was cracking where the hole most used is, but cracking only on the back side. So, I cut some iron-on patch and applied it and cut holes for the tong. Maybe added another year to the life of it.

Going out in a few to bring in houseplants before the low tonight in the low 20's. I have a delicate fern, a crossandra, a turmeric, and some colocasias I need to dig out and let dry in the garage.

Will take another break and then make tarts. Using the tassie dough for other tarts, includig raspberry, apple, and pear.
I didn't even know a tassie existed.

Tassies are a favorite pastry at wedding receptions, and all sorts of soirees. They are essentially a pecan pie in a tart, yet not as overloaded with sweetness, chiefly because the ratio of filling to pastry has been greatly changed, with half the tart now being pastry. It cures the most egregious fault of pecan pie. And Southerners love pecan pie like no others.

I'm choosing that pastry because I don't want to fool with liners for the mini muffin tin, and will use my mini tart pans that have lift-out bottoms. I have at least a dozen and they make such nice fluted edges.

It is that time of year when the field mice want to take up residence in the house. I have killed 2 of them. Leave out the mouse trap with peanut butter without setting the trap. Let them eat and then after 2 days of getting fed, I set the trap, but bend back the lever that holds the hook so that it becomes a hair trigger. The cat has no instinct to kill them, just watches them. I am guessing the cat is watching the mice like the soap opera "Days of our Lives."

Just finished a battle with the computer, which had decided that working was beneath it.

I tinkered, and got it working again. But I don't know if the problem got fixed by tinkering, or it just started working again (i.e., random problem). I'm now wondering what to do if the computer is reaching the end of its life.

If I vanish, it may mean computer problems that haven't been fixed. Not that I'd be missed...

Just home from drinks after work with my buddy, then we went and sat in the sauna at the gym. I know, really healthy right?

Take in the alcohol sweat out the alcohol -

So after the bar you can go back to the bar and start all over again!

Hopefully you got it fixed - unfortunately electronics have a limited life.

And you would be missed...

Waiting on a Greyhound bus in Silver Spring. Maryland. We pulled in early, and must wait to leave for Pittsburgh.

At the end of a harrowing week and all kinds of business nonsense.

Now on to working all weekend.
