  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

I haven't set foot in a restaurant in several years. Not precisely planned--but I don't eat out alone, and there is has been no opportunity to have a meal out with someone else.

If you want to eat out -- say, at an ethnic place that makes food you won't cook at home -- do what I do: bring something good to read. A book, a magazine, a JUB forum ...
One great advantage of a smartphone is that you always have something good to read with you.

I did corned beef and cabbage tonight instead of tomorrow. The trick is not adding too much water so you lose flavor. And if you can afford it by the flat cut.Lean with just a small layer of fat.

Added Yukon gold potatoes and wedges of cabbage. And we had nice marble rye, and stone ground mustard and pickles. The corner beef was good and garlicky.

No soda bread :(

Corner beef?

I am going out. Not sure yet if my favorite Chinese (Fulin's), or another. Will let the wind and traffic take me.

Not sitting at home by myself on my birthday. Back in a few.

And to think my pride keeps me from doing that. I don't want to look lonely, because I'm not. I don't mind answering a text if need be, but won't keep my phone out when dining, mostly out of habit so it doesn't happen with others present.

So bring an ink-on-paper book!

Had a dubious fish sandwich and a good mint chocolate shake, but I did buy three prime ribeyes to put back for grilling.
