  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

Undecided, even though the time is dinner time. Although one advantage of my brand of "fling it into a pot,, heat, hope it's edible" cooking is that I don't need lots of time to get dinner on.

I browned some ground beef with onions, jalapenos, and taco seasonings and made burritos by adding refried beans with green chilies and onions, and cheese.

But I made it for lunch, so I wasn't hungry at dinner, so just mashed up a couple of boiled eggs I put back in the morning, with some mayo and mustard, and had it on soda crackers and a few squares of Havarti, and it was perfectly satisfying.

I don't think I'd have bothered with the tortillas. I'd be happy with just taking the seasoned and browned ground beef and calling it Mexican-style keema or something. Pico de gallo on the side, of course. (I suppose we could call pico de gallo Mexican chutney.)

But the toasted tortilla (and I did put it in the air fryer on my aisle at work) is a texture, a crisp covering that is very much necessary to contrast with the soft fillings.

I had two beautiful NY strip steaks that cost me an arm and a leg. How would I eat steak with no arm you ask? Not sure.

But my Honey was not that hungry so I will grill tomorrow.

So far It looks like another cereal night. It's 8:30pm. If I eat a big meal I might have bad dreams.

Be nice if all my dreams were wet.

My sister is in town for a week of sunshine and frivolity. We went out tonight and had an amazing spread of raw oysters, a tuna roll, coconut shrimp, two had two pound lobsters, I had a nice cajun shrimp and grits and my sister had shrimp and scallops over garlic spinach...orange cake, which I think is a southern thing and one chocolate mud pie....we had a great time. unfortunately they are leaving tomorrow and I'll be sad.

I had leftover steamed asparagus, leftover sweet potato with butter and fresh nutmeg, and some shrimp I sauteed in ginger and sesame oil, over leftover peanut and sesame coated spaghetti noodles.

For dessert, I heated some broken pieces of a pie crust I had put in the freezer after it was broken, and topped with strawberry freezer jam and topped with peppermint whipped cream.

Very satisfying lazy meal.

I grilled those steaks and did baked potatoes and corn on the cob. All that butter. Time for my heart pills.

Bucatini they don't sell here. Used regular spaghetti. Also majoram is nowhere to be found here (and we don't have our own now), so it was oregano instead.
I am shocked and appalled.

I would have thought that the urban Dutch would now have a complete inventory of every kind of pasta from Italy by now.

And no Marjoram?????? This is a market niche waiting to be filled. Organic herbs.

You will clean up.
