  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

^ Thanks, but I wasn't hungry anyway.

(I do hope y'all realise that this is all in jest.)

Yet another fast, light dinner of salad, a banana, and whole wheat bread with almond butter.

Looking forward to more fruit variety coming soon for the summer season.

Chocolate almond/hazelnut butter with an English muffin. Main course or dessert? Who knows? Who cares? This is my wild Friday night.

Also a salad and some blueberries, which I was able to get on sale for less than regular blueberries. It's odd when that happens--you think when they put organic anything on sale they'd want to make sure the conventional produce is still cheaper so it'll continue selling.

I got a whole pizza, wings and soda (can reheat it tomorrow)

Who don't love an English muffin?

The world is at peace now that you have your blueberries. :)

Last night I made my lemon garlic Chicken breast and put it on top of some whipped Yukon gold potatoes and had peas and pearl onions.

No dessert :(

If they've put the organic berries on sale for cheaper than the conventional berries, that almost certainly means that the organic berries' sell-by date is very rapidly approaching. It's about selling them at a loss before having to throw them out and absorb their entire cost.

That's fine -- it just means that you have to eat those on-sale berries soon. As I've learned the hard way, I can get some good stuff out of the 29-cents-a-pound bin at my local vegetable stand, but I have to cook it and eat it today.

Pinto beans I cooked form scratch, whole wheat bread, and blueberries. No salad--I can only stand so much excitement.

They were a weekly sale item, not any clearance. I don't know how far in advance they have to plan those sales, but I did wonder if they knew they'd have an overstock of organic blueberries or something.

In any case, using blueberries up isn't a problem. And these seem to be holding up OK. I ate some a while ago and

Sudden sound of choking in background, and me203 collapses in front of the computer with a strangled cry.

Not too hungry today so I'll just be having a grilled cheese with spinach, red onion and tomato. And mayonnaise. Lots of mayonnaise. Way too much mayonnaise. And I just might throw a glob of mayo on the plate to dip it in.

What I will NOT be doing is substituting grilling butter for mayonnaise. For me, the appeal of a grilled cheese is the taste of the grilled butter.

Actually scratch all that. I'll just be having mayonnaise.

Wet smoked pork chops with red and white cabbage sauteed in onions with bacon.

Miracle Whip... I remember that being a staple item when I was growing up. I don't remember my mother ever buying anything else, even though she wasn't someone with huge brand loyalty. I can remember her using some other brands as a standard that got changed. And with some stuff, I think the only question is *what's the cheapest choice today?" As far as I know, my grandmother used Miracle Whip, too, which may be why my mother used it.

Haven't had it in years. Although every so often I'm tempted to get some just to see what I think of it now.

Miracle Whip is mayonnaise's cheap. cloying, diabetic cousin. And what's worse, it tastes like gremlin jizz.

Not that I know what gremlin jizz tastes like. A friend told me.

Miracle Whip does get bonus points for not having any superfluous letters.
