  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

May grill some chicken thighs. And probably more steamed broccoli.

Was up early and made a great pasta salad and a great potato salad. SO MUCH CHOPPING! But it is well worth it. Have cold salads for a week and enough to share at work. Also made fresh lemonade. Still need ot cut up a watermelon.

A second go round of some pasta with polpetti in a cheese tomato sauce from last Thursday.

yum.

Another round of the same old same old: salad, whole wheat bread, almond butter, and blueberries.

Escape the soup rut only find myself in a new rut!

Garbanzo bean rigatoni (tastes as good if not better than durum wheat) with a sauce of vegetarian sausage, artichoke hearts, anchovies, onion, broiled garlic, green olives and olive oil, with grated Parmesan. Followed by a salad of romaine, cucumber and avocado with a dressing of olive oil and lemon. Followed by sliced pears.

We've had the Banza pasta a few times and enjoyed it. Sounds good. :)

Finished the last of a bowtie pasta salad made with tuna and peas last night. I actually like it better when it is slightly warm.

Garbanzo bean rigatoni
I sometimes use lentil or garbanzo bean pasta. Not sure I like it as much as wheat pasta for pasta dishes, but I love the stuff as an ingredient for other dishes, like soup.

Now that you mention it, I have observed that in myself. Although farfalle is my favorite pasta, I noticed when cold, it has an almost unique ability to take on a waxy or chalky quality at the middle of the tie. The chewiness is what makes me love it so when served warm, but it does suffer when cold.

Old joke (updated for blueberries):

Mother: Eat your blueberries. They'll put color in your cheeks!

Child: Who wants blue cheeks?
 Blueberries or spinach both work.

Mommy Mommy! When are we having Aunt Edna for dinner?

Shut up! We haven't finished your Grandmother yet!
