Attention What are you having for dinner?

I had a nice bowl of chilled watermelong cubes and the last of my pasta salad I made Sunday. It was oniony and savory and ever so satisfying.

Same basic bread/almond butter/salad/blueberry rut... Again. I was thinking of how odd it seemed that my father could go years having the same exact lunch every day. And now I'm doing it with dinner.

At least, the bread was different--not 100% whole wheat. A true struggle--the whole wheat has more fiber, but this had less added sugar.

And fortunately, blueberries are on sale again, although a differnet store than my regular store.

But is your entire menu, every day, every meal, a rut?

It sounds like you are being too harsh on yourself. I mean, a zillion people eat the same breakfast every day, at least in the West, be it muesli, toast/bagel/muffin, eggs, smoothie, or just a cup of coffee. The sameness is part of a ritual that is centering, much like meditation or even morning libations.

Lots of people eat no breakfast at all. Maybe your centering is your dinner meal. And it definitely sounds healthy. As long as you're eating some variety sometime in the day, I don't think you have any reason to worry that you're making yourself a rut that might be depressing or any signal of a problem.

My mother seemed to eat little else than coffee and pimento cheese during her last decade of life. That and smoke her cigarettes. It looked maddenningly banal to me, but it's what she wanted. Diet has become too much of a should thing, with attendant guilt for shortcomings imputed. I say let people eat what they want.

Escaped the bread/almond butter/salad/blueberry rut a bit tonight. Instead of blueberries, I had strawberries. I usually don't think much of grocery store strawberries, but I decided to live dangerously and get them. They were actually were surprisingly good.

I shouldn't have but I just had an early dinner of General Tsos chicken that was so good.

Now I feel bloated and fat and unattractive! 😭

I think my nipples are swollen and I need a tampon.

^ This is what I really want.

What I will be having though are snacks and sandwiches at a Jack and Jill shower this evening....my partner is the smart one and eating at home because he loathes the woman my cousin is marrying and won't eat her food...but I am thinking that for $300 for the evening, I want some food.

Miracle Whip... I remember that being a staple item when I was growing up. I don't remember my mother ever buying anything else, even though she wasn't someone with huge brand loyalty. I can remember her using some other brands as a standard that got changed. And with some stuff, I think the only question is *what's the cheapest choice today?" As far as I know, my grandmother used Miracle Whip, too, which may be why my mother used it.

Haven't had it in years. Although every so often I'm tempted to get some just to see what I think of it now.
Our family grew up on Miracle Whip. I've never seen any copy-cat store brands for it. I think the only time we had regular mayo is if some receipe called for it such as potato salad or deviled eggs. I still buy it and not mayo. My dad has moved on to mayo but not sure about 3 of my 4 siblings.

I've seen some generic Miracle Whip equivalents. Most recently last week. But I wonder if store brand mayonnaise isn't a lot more common.

What "food" name have you seen given for the off-brand Miracle Whip? I'm sure that is a trade marked name like Oreos or Kleenex. Maybe something like sweet mayo??

I know some of the stores like Target and Walmart simple call it shipped salad dressing.

I honestly can't remember what the name was on the bottle. But past whatever name they used, I think they mentioned something like: "compare to Miracle Whip."

I'm making my own homemade Miracle Whip. (*@*)

BTW. We left before the food.

I did a little research on-line, and I found that Kroger uses"Classic Whip" on their "compare to Miracle Whip" product.
