  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

Not on topic but since this is where the cooks hang out, I have a question. My microwave turns clockwise then anticlockwise. Backwards then forwards. Is this in order to cook more evenly or is it just for show?
It doesn't always switch sides. Only most of the time. I think it has little to do with even cooking and more to do with the type of moter and mechanics. Or maybe a magnet or rotor that gets initiated once power is started.

Someone can probably explain it better than I though.

2 cents. :)

My microwave never turns. It just sits there on the counter.

My man has tomorrow off. The plan is to start with some cashews and other nuts and a nice martini. Then White Castle sliders and chips. Yeah not the healthiest but I am sure it is going to be fun.

I did cook tonight. I did boneless country style ribs outside brushed with barbecue sauce and cooked slowly. And roasted sweet potatoes and and some sauteed baby spinach with garlic.

We have cut down on eating meat but today I felt like a lion that hadn't eaten in a while.

I had BBQ for lunch, so had a light dinner, of steamed and salted snow peas, and boiled sweet corn on the cob, with a bowl of Butter Pecan ice cream and a chocolate orange cookie I had left from the batch I baked Sunday.

^Even when it's not particularly hot, I don't really like eating (let alone cooking) hot dinners in summer. I can't remember what it was like when I was young, but from what I remember, we had warm dinners at least part of the time in summer.

Although tonight I broke the rule, and made a tossed together dish of lentils and various vegetables, which was seasoned with curry powder. I didn't have much enthusiasm, but the choices were limited. I did the Mature Thing when I went shopping the last time in July, and made sure I kept my spending so I'd end the month within the budget. So I didn't have the choices I'd normally have (e.g., almond butter). I thought of shopping today, but I decided the store might be too crazy. First day of the month. And I think the first Tuesday might be a day that some can get special discounts. When those two days line up at once, the store could be very busy with very annoying lines.

High protein lentil pasta with a homemade vegetable pasta sauce. Trying to eat more fresh veggies and less processed food. :)
I keep something like lentil pasta around much of the time. It's incredibly convenient.

I'm trying to eat healthfully (lots of vegetables, little processed foods), although it's hard sometimes, given my lack of ambition in the kitchen! But I look at the medical system we have in the US, and think it's a good idea doing everything I can to maintain health.

My dinner last night was very good and my guy was very happy. Tonight is bangers and smashed little potatoes with a side of broccoli.
I had vegan bangers for the first time this year. They were pretty good. I have not had bangers before then since I was a child, being that I'm a vegetarian and are not common in California.

I'm doing odd grazing this evening. First, my daily pills with my last couple slices of ham. An hour later, a bunch of yellow grape tomatoes (quite good). Just now, a couple of slices of Italian bread, straight up.
