Attention What are you having for dinner?

We are having company tonight. My man is making his amazing tuna casserole, salad and some hot crusty bread. Our friend has been asking to try the tuna casserole for a long time.

Will this be the first time Hanah meets company?

I ran up the road to Wheeler State Park to the lodge's restaurant to try their Saturday night Seafood buffet. It is about a 45-minute drive, so not much farthe than driving to South Huntsville.

The woods off the highway into the Park are quite lovely and inviting. Indeed, I'm looking up how much the lakeside cabins rent for and if they are booked all autumn.

As I arrived, I swallowed a bit hard. I saw multiple couples leaving their cars in formal attire. I thought, "surely a lodge doesn't have a restaurant with a dress code!"

Thankfully, and regrettably, they were attending private banquets. Two were being held in large meeting rooms.

The dining room overlooked the marina, but was old and tatty, with fogged and dirty windows.

There were two waitresses who were also forced to buss table and run the cash register. They were also drawn into the banquets at times, so the dining room was really left unattended a lot.

The AC was on the blink, so the air wasn't keeping up at all, and the room was almost 80 degrees.

But, the food was great, with a typical assortment of fried and baked fish, fried and boiled shrimp, micro-scallops, clam strips, stuffed crab, potatoes, corn on the cob, salad bar, It made sitting in the too-warm room worth it. I had to go ask for lemon, not on the buffet, and I had to nab the woman bussing to get a refill on my tea, but it was all exactly what I was hungry for, and a real bargain at $28 before tipping.

The room was full by the time I left, but no good people watching. The men all looked a bit Victorian.

It was/is a whatever night. I had some yogurt and a banana. I'm still hungry though and thinking of a bowl of mini wheats with ice cold milk.

A banana with yogurt?

Dr. Freud would have a lot to say about that.

You really need to get out and start dating - you clearly are very lonely.

Did spiral pasta and fresh broccoli florets with lots of fresh sauteed golden brown garlic and extra virgin olive oil and a few good pinches of crushed red pepper. Lots of fresh romano cheese on top. Was craving aglio e olio.

Have some big beautiful kiwi maybe with some Kozy Shack rice pudding for dessert.
