Attention What are you having for dinner?

I ate lazy today, as I was cooking ahead for the week and usually don't eat what I'm cooking if I do that, else I won't have it for later.

Ate hot dogs and some mandarin oranges, and some pina colada tiramisu that I had made earlier.

Cooked a nice pasta salad by boiling the pasta in italian herbs, garlic and water. After draining, I then added capers, two kinds of olives, chopped bell pepper, chopped onions, sliced grape tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar, salt & pepper, and good olive oil. Finally, I tossed in the tips of fresh broccoli heads.

Also steamed a head of cauliflower, and a few heads of broccoli. And I stir-fried flank steak strips with a seasoning mix and some onions and more sweet red pepper chunks. Really pleased to have good stuff cooked ahead for the week. Should make it easy to prep lunches and make suppers.

As much as I love bacon, the best thing on that plate is the good bread. Reminds me of the loaves I find at Aldi, of all places.

As you probably know, there are still good neighborhood bakeries in Queens. But this came from the Key Food supermarket! I think they get it from a local bakery, though.

At the Trade Fair supermarket three blocks away from Key Food, they bake baguettes and some other breads in-house. Time it right and you can get one that's still warm. I have to avoid that, though, because if I take one home I will eat the entire thing right away. With butter.

We are having company tonight. My man is making his amazing tuna casserole, salad and some hot crusty bread. Our friend has been asking to try the tuna casserole for a long time.

So how was it!

And did Hanah join y'all at the table?

The tuna casserole was simply amazing and our friend was very happy and praised my man for a wonderful meal. It is really that good, she also asked for the recipe. Hannah was not very impressed but was happy to greet our friend with all kinds of happy sounds. She got a little bit of a cracker and some kiwi, she was a happy bird.

I made fried shrimp. Shrimp butterflied open and dredged in flour egg and seasoned breadcrumbs and deep fried.

Did roasted sweet potato wedges with just some EVOO and salt and pepper. And I did a quick mayo less Cole slaw with shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and some thin julienne red bell pepper.

Tossed with some celery seed salt and pepper,a bit of white sugar and apple cider vinegar with some EVOO. Nice and crunchy.

Spicy cocktail sauce for the shrimp with Inglehoffer horseradish.

Homemade ice tea with fresh lemon. And some mango sorbet for dessert.

Time for the Gym.

It was to humid to deal with cooking - made a Chinese Chicken Salad. Nice and cool.

Pizza. One Sicilian slice with red sauce, mozzarella and pesto. One white Sicilian slice with mozzarella, caramelized onion, mushrooms, and garlic.

The real question is this: What am I having for dessert?

Upside-Down Peach Cobbler (or you could call it tarte Tatin aux pêches), from the recipe Melissa Clark published in The New York Times this week.

Years ago Friendly's Restaurant chain used to have a Teriyaki Burger on the menu. I forget what exactly was on it but I did my own version of it tonight.

Big grilled burger with a grilled slice of fresh pineapple along with Canadian bacon and green onion with World Harbor Teriyaki sauce on a Ciabatta roll. I added some Romain lettuce.

My Honey and my Nephew and his wife loved them.

Strawberries and Fluff dip for dessert.
