  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

I bought three nice ribeyes last night, so I'm going to vacuum seal two of them for another day, and grill one.

Will probably throw on some asparagus spears and maybe roast a sweet potato, just because it's St. Patrick's Day.

Arby's?? They do have a good mint choco chip shake.
Yes. I cannot recommend the fish sandwich at all, but the shake was very good. Not too minty. Not artificial tasting. And not too milky. Very good ending to a day.

I know someone out there would recognize my description. LOL. I just wasn't hungry enough to stop and dine anywhere of my favorite places, plus the hour was late, so I decided to just save it for the weekend. The curly fries are also the bomb.

I had the fish sandwich a couple days ago. It didn't have much flavor to me and I thought maybe it needed more tartar sauce. So I went up and got more. That did help. I like sliced melted cheese on a fish sandwich and I didn't think to ask for that to be added. It was a nice thick fish patty and it did appear to be flaky and not some ground up and formed patty. Maybe some salt was needed. I still may try another one, doctored up a bit and see if that helps. Besides McD's, Arby's is the only place in my community that has fish sandwiches this time of year (Lent).

I tried to get a Mint chocolate shake (not chocolate chips as I stated earlier...but for those that don't know how they do it...It takes a mint chocolate shake and then tops it with whipped cream, a splash of chocolate sauce and is finished off with crushed Andes Candy pieces) however the shake machine was broken for the previous 2 weeks. I was told it may be weeks before it is fixed.

It's not dinner, it's breakfast/brunch, but ...

Sausage patties (Jimmy Dean, the best) and bacon. No eggs this time. And boiled blanched asparagus.

Since we're doing breakfast...

I had the taste for something fried this morning after reading the above posts about fish, and not having something more suitable I mashed together some canned potatoes and quick oats seasoned with pepper and garlic powder in a flat-bottomed breakfast bowl, which I divided in sixths and coated with bread crumbs before frying. And salted on the outside after browning. I enjoyed them more than I thought I would.

It's the same as my recipe for mackerel patties, except that I use Old Fashion oats and cornmeal in place of bread crumbs.

That's a shame.

I am thinking my fish was just held too long, and dried out.

I just made lemon garlic chicken. (There are many)Chicken breast dredged in flour and sauteed in a non stick skillet. Add lots of minced fresh garlic along with some chicken broth and lemon slices. Add some salt pepper and finish sauce with a few pats of butter and chopped Italian parsley. The flour on the chicken thickens the sauce nicely.

Made some plain white rice and fresh carrots and frozen peas to go along with it.

My Nephews wife said she is dropping off homemade cup cakes but so far no sight of her!

I just finished eating. Did not make the steak last night, but did just now, with the sweet potato and asparagus.

The steak wasn't as done as I wanted, so I put it in a cast iron skillet to finish it rather than go back outside in this wind. It was perfect inside, medium and charred on the outside. I had enough to put half back for a lunch this week at work.

Baked a whole pan of sweet potatoes, but only had half of one with dinner.

So much better than the steak I had last week at the restaurant, and without the crappy bad service.

Not the best pic, but hope it looks edible.

After commenting on and referring to Five Guys earlier I started craving the Fries (cooked in peanut oil) so we ordered a large bag of them for dinner (they give you alot)

Now I am waiting for it to digest so I can have warm peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream for dessert:)

Had Chipotle tonight. I usually get the bowl with 2 tortillas and then make 2 burritos and have one for later.
That's a really good idea. I do something similar with cooking ahead for breakfast burritos so I can have them for several days without cooking breakfast every day.

I made zucchini potato pancakes and had them with some greek yogurt. And I cut up a fresh pineapple for dessert.
