Attention What are you having for dinner?

I had some chicken and stuffing I had put back in the freezer, and it was great.

Unfortunately, I had some dark chocolate Godiva "masterpieces" I picked up on sale today at Costco, for dessert, which is why I'm awake again after only 3.5 hours' sleep.

I've seen the Keystone canned ground beef in the store. But have not tried it. I probably should. I usually have some browned ground beef in the freezer for use in dishes. But it's usually a couple years old before I get around to using it. It sure would be easier to open a can.
I'm going to have to look for that. Sounds interesting. I hope they were sparing on adding water and starch to keep it moist, less it become a gravy.

^Actually I still felt like I hadn't had a full meal after I ate the planned sweet potato and avocado, so I just grabbed some random things close by that didn't need any preparation.

As I recall, I had a rather modest poop this morning, but rather fulfilling (or should I say emptying?).

Baked beans with debreziner sausage and coleslaw.

The various Keystone meats are just meat with a pinch of salt. Nothing else.
My favorite is the Beef. Nice chunks of meat similar to canned beef stew. Dinty Moore for example. The Hamburger is good, too. It just ground and not cubed.
The Pork is good. I do like the Turkey. The Chicken falls apart like other brands of canned chicken and canned tuna.

I pressured canned some beef a couple of years ago. Raw chunks with a scant teaspoon of salt per pint. Non-iodized salt because I've read the iodine can cause colorful effects. Anyway. I stuffed the meat into the jar, sprinkled the salt in about half way (seemed like the thing to do) and into the pressure cooker. No water added. Turned out great.

If you weigh the price of jars and your time, assuming you already have a pressure cooker, the Keystone meats are a decent deal. They look pricey but they did all the work, too. And cans are tougher than jars.

A vacuum sealer is a great tool. I have a FoodSaver. The bags are stupid expensive at the grocery store and Wal-Mart. I buy my bags from a seller on eBay. I cheat, I pay a little more for bags, not rolls to make bags with. Wear and tear on the FoodSaver, ya know.

I'll get the pork loins at the HEB, they weigh six or eight pounds. I slice then up with my handy electric knife into "pork chops". At one "chop" per person for two people, it's about 13 meals. I vac seal that stuff, date it, and into the deep freezer. It's still like new after four years. Yeah, my freezer organizing skills are a disappointment.

I do the same with the 5# chubs of hamburger. Slice them up and vac two to a bag.

And by the way, have you seen the pre made hamburger patties at the grocery store? Not quite a half in thick? Often around holidays like 4th of July? Did you know those nice thick patties are cut from the 5# chubs and marked up $2 a pound? The things one learns while working at a grocery store..... :)

snacking on potato skins from the baked taters for the pierogies.

I love them with nothing on them.

Well, I own THREE pressure cookers, so I guess I've saved 2/3 off the price.

You've reminded me that I cut the large pork loin into three roasts, and with the cold snap today, I'm going to crock one for the week. Thanks!

I'm glad to read your evaluation. Last year I bought a can of ground beef and a can (size of a large can of tuna) of shredded pork. Last month my house guest ate the shredded pork and he said it was good.

Chinese pork cooked in the crock pot. I hate cooking in the crock pot - you smell the food all day long and it makes me more hungry!

That's a lot of stuff in a meatloaf. :)

Hubby does a meatloaf like a jelly roll. Flatten it out, cover with lots of cheddar cheese and roll it up. He has fun, as far as I can tell the cheese was just mixed into the meat.... no layers of cheese filling.

The crockpot thing? I use to put it out in the garage at the old house and now on the porch in this house when the house is closed up for heating or a/c.

Easily solved problem. You could clamp your nose shut with a clothespin all day long!
