I love chorizo, don't get me wrong. I've had homemade chorizo and chorizo from different parts of South America they sell at my local carniceria, but the flavor in this soup I didn't like.

I don't know much about chorizo. (The only reason I even know how to spell it is the able assistance of DuckDuckGo.) That said, I have to assume the chorizo quality varies. I also have to assume that a canned soup manufacturer is probably going to select the chorizo from the lowest cost bidder, which may not have the best quality.
