  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What are you reading right now?

I've just started reading "The Children Of Hurin" - J.R.R Tolkien

I've been wanting to read that, but been afraid it's no where near up to par with the Lord of the Ring books. Let me know if it's any good!

The last few days I've slowly been reading:

I got four books this weekend, and I'm sort of bouncing between them. My favorite one right now is called Mingering Mike. Some DJ, in one of his traditional crate searches, found a bunch of handmade record covers, complete with handmade cardboard records, which obviously didn't play. He was rather taken by the simplicity and breadth of the project (there were over 50 LPs), and so went for a search for this "musician".

The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry it's set in contemporary times. Modern day Templars. It's getting interesting. Very Dan Brownish without ripping him off.

Currently re-reading (for maybe the twentieth time) a favorite book that I just found again, I've A Feeling We're Not in Kansas Anymore by Ethan Mordden (I lent it to someone and never got it back, but just came across it on eBay while looking for something else... not that it's out of print or anything, but I can't bear to pay full price for anything, and I wanted the edition I had before).

Haven't read for weeks now, but I finished 'Murphy's Boy' on my flight to the USA last month....it was by Torey Hayden. Not a very new novel, but very heartwarming!

I have 3 books going at the moment. One scfi Star Wars Legacy of the Force Tempest by Troy Denning and two Military Adventure thrillers Deep Sound Channel by Joe Buff and Tempest Down by Jeff Rovin.

Does reading magazines count as well?

Philip K. Dick's Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch. If you like mind-bending furture dystopian sci-fi, you'd love it (most all his books, actually). This one, John & Yoko wanted to produce a film of.

The Way it Works- Inside Ottawa by Eddie Goldenberg. I bought it months ago but haven't started reading until now. Amazing book about the insides of Canadian government during the Chretien years.

NY Post - Sports Page

Peter Vecsey's column about Vince Carter plus other NBA News - he's a trip

The latest book I'm reading is An Underground Education by Richard Zacks.

I'll be rereading Phillip Pulmans Dark Material Trilogy for the nth time, "Golden Compass", "Subtle Knife", and "The Amber Spyglass".

I'm so excited that they are making movies of the books. They've been my favorite for such a long time.
