  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What is your favorite carnival/fair food?

I love a good slaw dog, a hot dog with onions, mustard, relish, and cole slaw.

I have never heard of any of these; the only thing I have ever eaten at a fair is cotton candy on a stick and just once a toffee apple.

Same here, plus those striped candy dummy's/pacifiers, though i used that somewhere else.

We used to eat this at the seaside.

Corn dogs are awesome, but my favourite is elephant ears!
Everyone cums in their pants over spudnuts, but I'm just not all that interested in them.

I'm going to the CNE today, so I'm getting ready to have it all: ice cream & waffle sandwich, corn dog, funnel cake, fried Mars bar, cotton candy, beaver tail, a rotato, bloomin' onion... then hit the rides!

These unusual fairs with their strange foods.

They don't have spudnuts at most other places? They're doughnuts made from potatoes. They're popular at exhibitions in Canada, or at least Saskatchewan. They're not bad, but not as pants-cummingly good as everyone makes them out to be. :-)

Refuji...No you didnt come up in this thread talking about some Raggedy Nachos...Nobody walks around the Fair grounds chomping on Nachos...You can buy that at the nearest Gas station on your way to the Fair....You can buy Nachos at K-Mart...

Do you know what Cotton Candy is? Have you heard of a Candy Apple?

Nachos at the last fair I was at consisted of more than stale chips and badly reconstituted cheese. Here they're fresh with sea salt, popular toppings being sharp cheddar and chili.

Which tends to be tastier than your dollar cotton candy cone. Which is also at everyone's local gas station these days.

Made like gnocchi?

I was being a little disingenuous and taking the term carnival in the way the rest of the world does. I was at Notting Hill Carnival went I got hold of that from a Nigerian place.

Had fried Oreos this year. They really are good, but not as good as fried ice cream. They too were kind of like a warm cake.

Pig Out is this coming week. There will be 50 or so booths from local restaurants there. I'm planning on going this year, haven't been to Pig Out in years. My selection will be rather limited though, most of it I won't be able to eat (to much carbs/sugar).

Back in the 90's the ex and I used to do Chataqua (big craft show). There was a booth there that had homemade (they made the sausage from scratch) foot long buffalo sausage. They were to die for. I also liked Indian Tacos.

Here are a few interesting items available this year at the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition), Toronto.

Cartoon Dog - Hot dog wrapped in deep-fried bacon, peanut butter, jam, spicy mayo, and topped with Cap'n Crunch cereal.

(You might want to close your eyes while you read this.)

Bug Dog - Beef frank topped with seasoned mustard crickets. You can wash it down with Beetle Juice - Mango pulp, buttermilk, and lime, with roasted mealworm powder mixed in.

Pulled Pork Cinnamon Rolls - Freshly-baked cinnamon roll topped with pulled pork with a frosting drizzle.

Threesome Burger - Canadian macaroni and cheese, Italian meatballs, and Greek fries on a beef burger and topped with bacon and feta cheese.

Yum!!!

Our county fair was this past week. I'll usually get Italian sausage with onion and peppers on a hoagie bun. Fair fries too with vinegar

Chiacchiere. Similar to what you call elephant ear, just different shape.
