What is your favorite carnival/fair food?

omfg.

I've made something like this before......because everything is better with bacon.

Since Oregon's fairs are shutdown this year our fairgrounds set up a drive thru food area.

This year I tried curly fries and deep fried cheesecake.

The fries were not cooked enough and soaked in oil because they were not done/crunchy. The cheesecake though was fairly decent. Drizzled chocolate or strawberry would have been a great addition though. :clown:

Deep Fried Artichoke Hearts - Deep Fried Calamari - Deep Fried Asparagus

It is the only time I eat anything coated and deep fried but I hate it when they don't have the temperature right and it is either soggy or overdone. The Artichoke Hearts usually are the things that come out the best because I think the way the batter is and their size gives them an advantage.

How about stuffed cabbage on a stick

So yesterday was the second to the last day of my State Fair.

This year my friend and I tried deep fried peanut butter cups (because she love PB) and deep friend Dr. Pepper (because I love soda). Peanut butter is not really my thing, but they were not bad. They were however dry as possible. They should not be able to sell them without a glass of water. The Dr. Pepper was actually pretty good, but nothing like I thought it would be. It was like deep fried dough strings, drenched in Dr. Pepper syrup, coated with some powdered sugar and topped with whipped cream. Between the two of us we finished neither.

Next year the deep fried smore has my interest.

I used to love cotton candy as a kid, but that has long since passed.

Peanut butter is notoriously problematic for going dry when overbaked or overheated.

The Dr. Pepper sounds like a sham.

I've not been attracted to carnivals for decades, but do like the State Fair to see the livestock, canning, quilts, and similar exhibits. The Midway can be left to the hoi polloi though.

While at the fair we saw a cotton candy art booth. We would have got one but neither one of us like cotton candy. The pieces looked cool though. Most people were getting a unicorn head. They were all $10 each and pretty large.

So I thought I tried deep fried cheesecake for the first time today, but reading this thread I already tried it and didn't remember it. Funny though I feel the same I did then. My niece loved it though.

My state fair had no new fair food (weird fried food). They had a lot of ethnic food this year though.
