I think all of you and all of us are sort of immigrants.
If not, Australia, Canada, the US, Brazil ... etc are for indigenous people ONLY.
I don't even pay much mind if a person is an immigrant. If s/he has a heavy accent then I might think to myself "oh s/he is probably an immigrant" but that's pretty much it. I don't avoid a person because s/he is an immigrant. If you're good to my I'll be good to you.

I'm usually pleased to meet immigrants. It takes pluck to relocate.
You in Albur-quecera ceraBy immigrants do you mean actual immigrants, ir do you mean illegals who sneak in and have no actual intention of becoming citizens?
Technically I'm an immigrant.
I'm like a triple immigrant, but because I'm not black or middle eastern it doesn't seem to count.![]()
We, immigrants, are all a pot of gold.![]()
"General impression"? That they're people. Like everyone. The one point that may be relevant under certain circumstances (right to vote, e.g.) is, that they have a different citizenship than the autochthonous people. Or, in some cases, no citizenship.
See above.

I'm prejudiced when it comes to Somalians. Every time I see the in the media, they seem to be more attractive than the rest of us. Whatever their genetic mix is, it's danged appealing.
I mean... I was born in Hartford Connecticut, so it's not like I'm not American, but I grew up and lived almost my whole life in Canada and I'm a Canadian Citizen and have always felt Canadian. I don't feel American, really... but I do vote in elections and sponsored my husband for his Green Card.
But yes... Canadians are immigrants, we're just... you know... on average better-educated, in better health, speak two languages and have less racial bias.
Sorry, JPGhost but why would you want to stir this hornet nest of negativity. Please no offense intended. God, please, no thread on abortion.
to found out, so I came back here to at least get re-assurance of our good relation (native & immigrants). ^^It depends on their general disposition.
If they are kind and accepting... I have no issues. If they are assholes and have brought whatever bullshit ideology they were trying to get away from their own country... I'm like. Fuck off!
Generally, I am interested but then the above applies.
Many times they're escaping a hellhole and creating a new life in a country where they have the opportunity to do so, which is nice. The only time when I really have a problem is when people such as Muslims expect us to bend over backwards for their disease of a religion, although that's more of a religious issue than an immigration one.
Well my mother's family were immigrants from Holland and my great, great grandmother and her children emigrated from England.
I have no issue with immigrants from any country as long as they value the principles of freedom, and socialist democracy that have made Canada as good a place as any to live.
I think that in Canada we tend to largely celebrate our country as a community of communities and not insist on a heterogenous, heterosexual melting pot where everyone has to conform to colonial mores.
Just looking to find a better life. We Americans are spoon fed and yet we fuck it all up. This country sucks. Don't come here. I would go to Canada.
We're decades ahead of you in this respect and I can assure you, it won't be much fun when all your cities are stripped of almost all their original working and middle class citizens. It's not interesting to have cities full of people who can't speak their own language and have no loyalty towards their own nation.
The mood has soured so much in The Netherlands that many of the children of people who emigrated here in the seventies and eighties have decided to move back to Turkey and Morocco.
Germany could take 500,000 people per annum for years
Germany looks set to take even more refugees, as its vice chancellor Sigmar Gabriel said it could take half a million people each year for “several years”.
“I believe we could surely deal with something in the order of half a million for several years,” the vice chancellor told ZDF public television, AFP reports.
It's noteworthy that Germany is now stating that it can accept 500,000 migrants a year, over several years:

I quote:

I notice that unlike the article, most people use immigrant or migrant as opposed to refugee, is there a reason for this?
I call them 'Islamic terrorists', not 'freedom fighters' or 'militants' ... just like the IRA were(are) 'Catholic terrorists', not 'freedom fighters' or 'militants'..Other examples include terrorists becoming 'fighters' or 'militants' and are not allowed to be referred to as Muslim or Islamic in the same sentence, and ISIS / Islamic State becoming 'Daesh' to avoid offending the nice kind group.
