  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What is your impression of immigrants?

I think all of you and all of us are sort of immigrants.
If not, Australia, Canada, the US, Brazil ... etc are for indigenous people ONLY.

But a group of people in a nation which they merge into culture for hundred/thousand years are totally different than those just came few days/years back.

I don't even pay much mind if a person is an immigrant. If s/he has a heavy accent then I might think to myself "oh s/he is probably an immigrant" but that's pretty much it. I don't avoid a person because s/he is an immigrant. If you're good to my I'll be good to you.

but..

but..

what if the accent is annoying and confuse alot of people like an old Thai guy worker in my post local post office #-o

:(

I'm like a triple immigrant, but because I'm not black or middle eastern it doesn't seem to count. :##:

What those Syrian refugees derogatory name in your country right now? (Berlin?Holland?) I bet they all "unfairly" earned it right now. :(

We, immigrants, are all a pot of gold.

or pot of filth..:(

"General impression"? That they're people. Like everyone. The one point that may be relevant under certain circumstances (right to vote, e.g.) is, that they have a different citizenship than the autochthonous people. Or, in some cases, no citizenship.

See above.

I wish you always "consciously" thinking like that (*8*)

right and just no matter shit happens.

I'm prejudiced when it comes to Somalians. Every time I see the in the media, they seem to be more attractive than the rest of us. Whatever their genetic mix is, it's danged appealing.

I mean... I was born in Hartford Connecticut, so it's not like I'm not American, but I grew up and lived almost my whole life in Canada and I'm a Canadian Citizen and have always felt Canadian. I don't feel American, really... but I do vote in elections and sponsored my husband for his Green Card.

But yes... Canadians are immigrants, we're just... you know... on average better-educated, in better health, speak two languages and have less racial bias.

Oh I see..nvm

Sorry, JPGhost but why would you want to stir this hornet nest of negativity. Please no offense intended. God, please, no thread on abortion.

Because I wish people talk "gold" like in here about immigrants- and true to their heart and action out there, it's very comforting for me too ya know? Cuz I'm immigrant. ^^ Maybe JUB is green zone for immigrant tolerance, not like some "supremacist" forums out there..which I dread :bartshock to found out, so I came back here to at least get re-assurance of our good relation (native & immigrants). ^^

It depends on their general disposition.

If they are kind and accepting... I have no issues. If they are assholes and have brought whatever bullshit ideology they were trying to get away from their own country... I'm like. Fuck off!

Generally, I am interested but then the above applies.

In my observation .. there are native's bs and immigrant bs. We all have our own shit ^^ But I do agree that some group of immigrants ..are difficult to get along. My country indonesia, even though we made quite community in S.Fisco but we hardly making commotion/ we just blend well quietly. IMO, the most common mexicans are more difficult to contain/handle group of immigrants..
they're like goldfish (very common) in American pond..they taking so much space and poo alot.

Need to be watch. ^^

Many times they're escaping a hellhole and creating a new life in a country where they have the opportunity to do so, which is nice. The only time when I really have a problem is when people such as Muslims expect us to bend over backwards for their disease of a religion, although that's more of a religious issue than an immigration one.

True..

Isn't how Is break the border?

Well my mother's family were immigrants from Holland and my great, great grandmother and her children emigrated from England.

I have no issue with immigrants from any country as long as they value the principles of freedom, and socialist democracy that have made Canada as good a place as any to live.

I think that in Canada we tend to largely celebrate our country as a community of communities and not insist on a heterogenous, heterosexual melting pot where everyone has to conform to colonial mores.

China Towns rule some parts of Canada. How real Canadians take on that issue? Easy peasy? Or some are getting restless?

We Americans always restless/anxious if anything became too much ^^

Just looking to find a better life. We Americans are spoon fed and yet we fuck it all up. This country sucks. Don't come here. I would go to Canada.

But my heart in here..in America. I just graduated this month

graduated= neutralized.

We're decades ahead of you in this respect and I can assure you, it won't be much fun when all your cities are stripped of almost all their original working and middle class citizens. It's not interesting to have cities full of people who can't speak their own language and have no loyalty towards their own nation.

The mood has soured so much in The Netherlands that many of the children of people who emigrated here in the seventies and eighties have decided to move back to Turkey and Morocco.

I'm more concerned about Spaniard ignorant youngsters wich is a biggest population than any inmigrant group in Spain and also seems grow faster.

It's noteworthy that Germany is now stating that it can accept 500,000 migrants a year, over several years:

http://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2015/sep/08/refugee-crisis-clashes-in-lesbos-live-updates

I quote:
Germany could take 500,000 people per annum for years

Germany looks set to take even more refugees, as its vice chancellor Sigmar Gabriel said it could take half a million people each year for “several years”.

“I believe we could surely deal with something in the order of half a million for several years,” the vice chancellor told ZDF public television, AFP reports.

That is just empty-worded nonsense, theory, and political window-dressing. Typical Guardian reporting.

If Germany was really so happy and willing to take 500,000 every year, then why is it that Chancellor Merkel was before the cameras a few days ago, publicly lecturing and reprimanding other European countries about taking a fair share?

If Germany was really so happy and willing to take 500,000 every year, then why did they put pressure on Hungary to enforce its border and try to prevent onward travel?

I think that Merkel knows fine such out-of-control incoming numbers are becoming an increasing political issue in Germany for her, and causing public concern, and she is trying to deflect and avoid dealing with it.

Oh and in case anyone is in doubt, I am totally against this unstoppable mass of people just walking across whatever border they choose and the liberal media giving them propaganda assistance. There are refugee camps much closer to home where investment could be put in with our enormous international aid budget, and then the goal should be the removal of Assad and ISIS to allow these people to return home. Easier said than done, but that is better than trying to house MILLIONS in the next decade. It is totally unsustainable.

I notice that unlike the article, most people use immigrant or migrant as opposed to refugee, is there a reason for this?

I use the words 'illegal immigrant' to describe them.

'Refugee' is just the latest liberal far-left attempt at redefining the English language to propagandise for their ideological beliefs, and to marginalise and slander anyone and everyone who disagrees with them.

It goes without saying that if you dare speak out to challenge what they decree, you get labelled an awful, despicable, evil, fascist, racist.... (blah blah blah)

Other examples include terrorists becoming 'fighters' or 'militants' and are not allowed to be referred to as Muslim or Islamic in the same sentence, and ISIS / Islamic State becoming 'Daesh' to avoid offending the nice kind group.

It is total intellectual cowardice. Rather than address and debate the substance, they are more concerned with policing the English language to segregate those who don't believe 100% of what they say, then to isolate them, then to slander them. Freedom of speech directly under attack.

It is the WORST aspect of liberalism and socialism, and I will fight it every day.

I call them 'Islamic terrorists', not 'freedom fighters' or 'militants' ... just like the IRA were(are) 'Catholic terrorists', not 'freedom fighters' or 'militants'..

But I prefer to call I.S. either 'Islamic State' or 'Daesh', so as not to sully the name of the Goddess Isis.
