What was the last play that you watched?

Tomorrow night I am going to see "Cabaret" at a small theater that seats about a hundred people. There are only four or five rows of seats so you don't sit too far back and the first row is on the floor that is used as a stage, so at times you could possibly reach out and touch an actor without standing up. All of the performances are sold out so they are adding a Sunday performance and expect it to sell out too. The theater is on the second floor of a converted factory that has a slew of artists studios in it. I know of only one exit and there is a long twisting and turning hallway between the stairwell and the theater. After the fire in Oakland for the rave that was in an artsy building I was apprehensive about this theater. If the lights went out I don't think that I would be able to find the stairway, but I emailed them and they said that there are sprinklers and fire extinguishers and the fire department inspects them regularly and that there is a second fire exit closer that I haven't noticed. They also said that there are emergency lights that come on when the power goes out. I was impressed with their timely response. They had also sent an email to people who had reservations on Saturday to tell them that the artists were having a special sale all day and the parking lot may fill up but that they had arranged for additional lots to be opened to handle the overflow and that we could come early and shop before the play. I'm looking forward to this.

Last night I saw the musical "Sweet Charity" it was very good! I remember watching the movie years ago starring Shirley MCClaine.

Great music and a lot of great songs!

Last night my friend, her children and I went to Salem's Singing Christmas Tree. It was part concert, play and church service. It was good, but I am not into church and they preached throughout.

Saw Finding Neverland tonight. It was pretty good, but it could have been great if they punched up the story and got a different male lead. A great job though by the four boys. I am sure they will keep working for years to come.

Saturday night I saw "The Most Happy Fella." It is a musical. The Book, Music, and Lyrics are by Frank Loesser.

It was really great and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Menopause: The Musical

It came to Salem for one night and my friend got tickets. I say it in Vegas years ago and it is still great.

Not a play, but it was part of my Broadway season so I will mention it.

Last night my friend, her two oldest kids and I went and saw The Illusionists. It was a bunch of "magic acts". I was taken in by The Deductionist AKA Colin Cloud because I use to be able to do some of what he did. I am not sure if it was a trick or skill though. I also really enjoyed The Manipulator AKA Yu Ho-Jin. He did some great card tricks which I like. The highlight of the show though was The Trickster AKA Jeff Hobson. He was so damn funny. He did some of my favorite humor, gay jokes, so it was right up my alley.

I recommend the show if you like magic.

Last Saturday I saw "Xanadu." I remember seeing the movie during the 80's with Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelly. The musical was just like the movie except they added a lot of references to the 80's and it was very funny. Great music too! Music from ELO and John Farrar, who wrote songs for Olivia Newton John.

I recommend the show to everyone!

Matilda

I will be honest and admit I was in and out of sleep during the first half, but what I saw of the play was great. It is the most charming play I have ever seen.

Last Saturday I saw, Jake Ehrenreich's "A Jew Grows in Brooklyn." 2.0

I saw the 1.0 version several years ago and it was great and this version was great too!

It is a one man show about his family. His parents were Holocaust survivors. Jake is a great entertainer. He sings, tells jokes, plays many different instruments, and a great storyteller as well.

Beauty And The Beast

I envy you.

The last play I saw was over a year ago. My sister stood me up. The play itself was pretty alright, but setting up the night wasn't worth the time or the effort.

The one before that was years ago. I saw Chekhov's "The Seagull" for my eleventh birthday or something and loved it more than I can explain.

Do you not have a local playhouse you can attend?

Saw Jersey Boys for the third time last night. I still love it.

Saw Jersey Boys for the third time last night. I still love it.

I have seen "Jersey Boys" twice and enjoyed it each time. It is coming back again this upcoming season, but I do not plan on seeing it again. I would prefer to see something else that I have not seen. I also have seen Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in concert about 3 times. He is a wonderful performer and still a great singer.

Last night I saw the musical, "Nine." the show was alright. It was not the best show nor the worst show I have seen. The lead actor did not have a good voice. In fact, I thought his voice sounded flat and he really could not carry a tune very well. He should not have been cast. The actresses in the show had great voices. Every one of them and I guess you could say that it made up for it, sort of.

I love the show, but I wanted my mother and aunt to watch it. My mother passed away before she had the chance, but my aunt and cousin enjoyed it.

The second time I saw it was in Vegas and it sucked. All of the actor's voices were tired.

In 2 weeks I am going to see "Mama Mia" and I am looking forward to it. It is the farewell tour of the show.

Has anyone seen this show? What did you think of the show? I have seen the movie starring Meryl Streep and I like Abba's music and I enjoyed both.
