What's Your Favorite Musical?

iiiiiiiiii am the very picture of a modern major general . . . .

IMHO, the best song and dance show ever to grace stage and screen....

WEST SIDE STORY!

Kander and Ebb have my heart, always have.

So, it's a toss-up between "Cabaret" and "Chicago".

Growing up, my Mom had lots and lots of Broadway score albums, and according to her by the time I was three I was wandering around the house singing every lyric from 'Cabaret'.

heh

I guess the writing was on the wall from an early age.

the star wars christmas special!

j/k. i have only seen cats and fiddler on the roof in a proper theater, so most of mine are film. my favorites are fiddler and west side story. i have a weakness for the disney films like beauty and the beast and aladdin. rent was fun i thought. and i don't give a shit what anyone thinks... i still love phantom of the opera! so bleah!

For Hollywood, "Singin' In The Rain". For Broadway, either "The Scarlet Pimpernel" or "42nd Street". Hated, hated, hated Rent.

Hmmmm, I must not have the "musical" portion of my gay switched on, because I can't watch pretty much any musical without the urge to run away .

"Maybe This Time" from Cabaret.

For me, it doesn't get much better than this. Liza gives a jaw-dropping reading of an amazing song for the ages.

I think I'm the only gay guy to have never seen cabaret. It's almost like's its part of the initiation ceremony.

I must have missed the ceremony too. Never saw it and don't have any plans to see it either.

Great taste on all 3 ! I love Pimpernel, particularly original cast ( Christine Andreas!! ) and score.
Also truly love My Fair Lady. And am a die-hard Les Mis fan ! Then there's Fiddler on the Roof. Oh and I'm really partial to Music Man. Too hard to pick just one!

The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade. Here's the theatrical trailer for the film version.

^ Listen to this....

Bette from "The Rose".

"Stay With me". Good Lord, it's part Janis, part Stevie Nicks... It brings me to happy tears every time I listen to it.

I think it's genius.
