Sounds like it was all Arsenal first half, then all Chelsea second.

Congratulations to ManUtd on winning the Premiership.:=D: :=D: :=D:

Chelsea played with real pride today at Arsenal. Even tho' they had only 10 men for the whole of the 2nd half, they came close to winning the game.

Still lots of issues to be decided...

Amongst them is whether Cristiano will be going home for his summer holidays:

My aunt went there a couple of years ago, and met him.

The actual question in this thread has finally been answered!
Had totally forgot that there was that question in the title #-o

Congratulations to Manchester United :=D: :=D:

Well as for my boys in blue and white hoops, what a clusterfuck to lose 0-2 to watford at the madjeski. Haven't read anything on the game, but I don't know what it is about playing those guys for us - two 0-0 games last year in the championship, then 0-0 earlier this year.

Doubt we'll get into Europe now - we're still in 7th place but I expect Spurs to blow by us with their 2 games in hand, which means we have to get a result at Blackburn while hoping that Bolton trips up against Villa.

Charlton are relegated after losing 0-2 to Spurs. And as a result Fulham are safe.

Who will join them in the Championship? Wigan look favourites, but...

Berbatov was brilliant tonite.:=D: And Martin Jol has just said DB is happy at Spurs. But will he stay???

No surprise Charlton have gone down... so, two London teams, which could become three, or two london teams and a north west team; Wigan or Sheff Utd.

There's now two games in it.
Wigan vs Sheff Utd, and Man Utd vs West Ham.

If Sheff Utd don't lose, Wigan go down, irrespective of other results.
If Wigan win (by two goals) and West Ham don't lose, Sheff Utd go down.
If Wigan and Man Utd win, West Ham go down.

I love this part of the season, the final game battle. It's so tense!

My guesses;

Man Utd 2 - 2 West Ham
(I think Alex will field the kids, he'd be a fool if he didn't, I think his players have given a lot this season, and frankly should be given an early holiday... and anyways, games like that are great for bringing through the youngsters)

And I think the Sheff Utd - Wigan game is too tough to call. I'm gonna say...

Sheff Utd 2 - 1 Wigan.

Watford's a London team? Do you consider Reading a London club as well?

An interesting point olides...| A useful rule of thumb is: if a place is served the by Transport for London network of tubes, trams, buses and trains, then it is part of what is called Greater London.

Watford is in the Hertfordshire, Wembley is in Middlesex, Richmond is in Surrey. But they are all served by the metropolitan transport network.

Reading is 74 miles from the centre of London, so is well outside the Greater London metropolitan area. It might be in the Royal County of Berkshire, (hence the nickname the "Royals") like Windsor, but it is not part of London.

It is not known if the Queen is a fan.;)

Thanks for the info, greaves. Well, the queen was over here in the US watching the kentucky derby this weekend - and I doubt she's much of a football supporter. :(

Too true olides. The royals like rather expensive sports such as horse-racing, polo, carriage driving and show-jumping...all of which involve horses.

"Studs" feature prominently. But most - tho' probably not all! - JUBbers would be disappointed with the videos.;)

Anyway, back to real sport.

ManUtd will be applauded on to the Chelsea pitch tonite. There is nothing to play for position-wise in the Premiership, and both teams will have regard to the FACup Final on 19/05/07 at Wembley.

And this Sunday, when WHam play Manutd at OT, there are many wondering what sort ot team AF will play.

Not least the fans of Wigan and SheffUtd, who play each other.

All Premiership games on Sunday 13/05/07 kick off simultaneously @ 15.00.:D

Hey all -

So does your team have anything to play for on Sunday?

As for Reading, after today's result Spurs-Rovers 1-1 (the best result that could have happened), we've still got European dreams! Reading will be in europe next year if any of the below happen:

  1. We win (@ Blackburn) and Spurs lose (v. Man City)
  2. We win and Bolton lose or draw (v. Villa)
  3. We draw and Bolton lose and Pompey lose or draw (v. Arsenal)
I had to steal that from a Reading board lol. If we lose, Coppell gets his wish and no European distraction next season :( But with Rovers now with nothing to play for, hopefully the Royals can top off their season with this final success.

The game is on tv here in the US, tho 2 hours delayed after the ManGoo - WetSham match (terms also stolen from the Reading board) so I'll have to avoid all scores/updates.

While I'm sure you'd rather your fate was entirely in your own hands, olides, at least the situation certainly isn't hopeless; any one of those situations are fairly plausible.

Middlesbrough technically have nothing to play for, BUT I want to ensure finishing above Newcastle - A situation which will be decided by two ex-Boro captains; Southgate for Boro, and Nigel Pearson as Newcastle's caretaker.

C'mon the Boro!

Incidentally, Middlesbrough have just gone through a change;

I like it, what does everyone else think?

^ I like the new one better as well jacobim. So why are the years different?

In 1986, the club went into liquidation. We'd been relegated down to division three - now officially league 1 - and we didn't have the money to continue.

Steve Gibson turned up with a consortium of buyers, and saved the club at the last minute, joining the board of directors. All the main team had left, pretty much, leaving us with a load of kids and some guys well past their best...

And the whole lot of them played out of their skins. Pallister went to Man Utd in the end, Cooper, to Nottingham Forest (at this point, a pretty massive club), and so on.

We made the 1986 badge as a devotion to the fact that the club basically started from scratch, but Steve Gibson - now the club's chairman, having been elected in 1991ish - wants the badge to reflect just how long the history of the club is, being one of the oldest teams in existence really. So, we're reverting to 1876.

Yeah well I think the club should celebrate its WHOLE history so it's a good move. Especially for clubs that can't look at dozens of trophies on the mantle.

Reading is one of the oldest clubs. Per wikipedia:

They also hold the embarrassing honour of having experienced more FA Cup defeats than any other team. This is because Reading are the oldest club still competing in the competition never to have won the Cup. Notts County entered the competition at the same time as Reading, in 1877-78. However, because County won the cup in 1894 (and so were unbeaten in that season), they have suffered one fewer defeat in the competition than Reading. In the year that County won the Cup, Reading suffered their worst ever defeat, losing 18-0 to Preston North End, at least partly because the Preston players used studs on their quagmire of a pitch.

AF has said he will field a "strong" team v WHam @ OT tomorrow. But that team might not include Rooney or Ronaldo.

Wonder what SheffUtd and Wigan think of that?;)

Spurs need just 1 point v ManCity to secure a UEFA place...

And it looks like Big Sam is on his way to Newcastle...

It's a funny old game...;)

Well, the fat lady has sung.....|

An enthralling game at Bramall Lane, where Wigan beat SheffUtd 1-2 to stay in the Premiership on goal difference.:=D: And WHam win 0-1 at ManUtd  to secure their place in the top division.

Spurs take fifth place - same as last season - and are in Europe next season.:D

Reading just miss out on a UEFA place, but what a wonderful season for them. Steve Coppell deserves the Manager of the Year award.:=D: :=D: :=D:

Chelsea equalled Liverpool's record of 63 home League games unbeaten.:=D:

And Mark Viduka scores twice for Boro' so they finish above Newcastle.;) But is he staying, or is he going?

Well, the chants of Sign him on, sign him on, sign him on! Were ringing around the ground.

I have no idea if I'll have a ticket next season, though, sadly. :(
