Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

greaves, well said... I couldn't agree more.

Looking at the Match Stats, you can see it was a pretty even game (except for the score). One stat that is lopsided is fouls... 16 for ManUtd and 8 for Tottenham

I posted this in the Sports Bar at half-time...

Congratulations to Cristiano «Ronaldinha» Ronaldo!

An award for Miss Ronaldinha...

PAG10bde3_oscar_statue.jpg

With just the slightest of touches, Ronaldinha dives into the pitch in the penalty area and puts a look on his face as if he is going to cry... again!

He is awarded a penalty kick just before the end of the first half.

And a special award to the referee...

Half time

Tottenham 0 - 1 Man Utd

Tottenham's defense has been a little weak, but Manchester's offense has been somewhat disorganized.

The commentators said that it was "not the best day of refereeing Mr. Clattenburg has had."

come on guys, this aint fair, why is it that just ONE player gets slated everyweek, when there are so many more players who do just the same week in an week out, who cheat an dive, i would have agreed with your comments about a year ago, but hes defo cut that out of his game now.

This is my point of view, lets say ur standing infront of a guy, an hes going to really make it seem like hes going to smack u in the face when ur least expecting it, if u realised wot was happening just seconds before, would u just stand there in the hope that he isnt really going to go through with it, or would u naturally just flinch an try to cover ur face?

wot im trying to say is, its instinct, he got sandwiched between to players and one of them stuck a leg out aswell, with the speed he runs at ofcourse it would put u off.

but i do have to say i wasnt too happy with the tackling that we were doin, Rooney an Scholes both were lucky i think, they should know better.

And anyway, it was one goal, Tottenham had plenty of chances themselves, they should have took them, and u cant deny that the other 3goals were good team goals, with nothing wrong with them regarding rules.

and these 'real football fans' u speak off, hmm, that can be debatable, wot ive noticed is within the English nature its jus so typical to find someone else to blame an make a scapegoat, and thats wot these 'real football fans' are doin in Ronaldo. 'Real football fans' should know the football rules, an be able to understand that Rooney got sent off for doing somethin against the rules. but no, they are blind to that, but just find the easiet target (not saying that ronaldo was innocent in the situation)

'REAL football fans' arent so fickle that they dispise one team and one player for the simple reason that its Man Utd or Cristiano Ronaldo.

I despise Cristiano Ronaldo because we would've at least drawn against Man Utd earlier this season but for a couple of awful decisions regarding him. Two ridiculous dives, one which lead to a penalty. They were boths so blatant that by the rules of the game he should've been sent off for two bookings, but he stayed on.

Then after we equalised, you went up the other end and scored. So, since the penalty was from a dive... it should've been 1-1; and that's assuming you'd have still scored, and still only conceded 1 with only ten players on the pitch.

That's why I hate ronaldo. In the last two seasons, we'd have had an undefeated record against the big teams at home.
Last year:
Arsenal: 2-1
Man Utd: 4-1
Chelsea: 3-0
This year:
Arsenal: 1-1
Chelsea: 2-1
Should've been Man Utd: 1-1.

That's annoyed me.

And the reason we hate him is because he does it so often. Other people dive, of course they do. But he takes it to another damned level. And of course, if he didn't, I'd love him as a player. He's talented, but he's a diving little tit and that ruins the experience of watching him.

We all know the mighty Reading FC will win the Preiership in their first season in it.(!) :gogirl: :=D:
well, they're sixth right now!! better than spurs. and I can't whine about ronaldo - he's played amazing against reading, we might have 2 wins against Manu instead of a draw and a loss. well, maybe not. got another chance in the fa cup.

obviously reading have no chance for the title but i've been following them all season. I went to the world cup in germany and it rekindled my interest in soccer. wanted to follow a premiership team this season, so checked out the teams. reading is the ultimate underdog - first time in 135 years!, has my favorite US player (convey), and after i saw their first game on tv - 3-2 come from behind against boro back in august, was hooked.

ok, back to ronaldo bashing...

As you were in the Premiership after this weekend's games.

The top 4 teams are in the top 4 places, but great to see Bolton, Portsmouth and Reading in the next 3 places.:=D: :=D: :=D:

Match of the Premiership w/end was undoubtedly Arsenal-Wigan where Wigan were unlucky to lose.

But the most beautiful game of the weekend was Barcelona v Racing Santander. Pure magic from Ronaldinho.:=D: Awesome.:D

That stung, I can tell you.

Luckily, I had a boyfriend - 200 miles from my house- at that point who I was with at the time, so I was somewhat distracted.

Congrates to Reading for getting a draw at ManUtd in the FACup.:=D:

And to Blackburn who did the same v Arsenal @ the Emirates stadium.:=D:

'Boro face a prickly replay at the Hawthorns after WBA held them at the Riverside.;)

Well the 6th round FA Cup draw has been made, looks like some good games on paper:

Middlesbrough or West Brom v Manchester United or Reading
Arsenal or Blackburn v Manchester City
Chelsea v Tottenham
Plymouth v Watford

there are still 3 replays from the 5th round to be played first though, they will be played at the end of this month.

6th round games to be played weekend March 10/11

Come on Man U :D

Am looking forward to the WBA-Reading game.;)

But my beloved Spurs are not going to beat Chelsea.:(

oi lol it will be West Brom v Man U

and i think spurs hav a very good chance, ive grown up liking them as my uncle supports them, an i hope they do really well, and i fancy them beating chelsea, again :D

and omg, both of Keanes goals at the weekend gotta be top contenders for goal of the round and tournemant.

guess we'll jus hav to see wot happens, fingers crossed though

Oh I think WBA-Reading sounds just fine. Wouldn't want to travel to Boro twice in 3 weekends :-) Am really looking forward to the ManU replay - I think each team is gonna put a little more first teamers out there, although it doesn't seem to matter for Reading. People were giving Coppell shit, but there are more opening day starting 11 players on their "reserve team" than the 1st team right now.

This coming Saturday 03/03: Liverpool v ManUtd. Should be a cracker, and could give Chelsea - if they can win at Portsmouth on the same day - a glimmer of hope.

The key Chelsea v ManUtd game is now to be played 15/04/07. Could still be a crucial game in deciding which club wins the Premiership.

The game that attracted all the attention in the UK yesterday was the "Snarling" Cup. But if Arsenal want to see how to play the beautiful game and win trophies, I hope they watched Barcelona last nite play some of the most breathtaking club football ever seen.

I'm going to ignore the fact that everyone seems to be against middlesbrough in the cup ;) Olides, you just don't want us to beat you again ;) (You are a Reading fan, right?)

Anyhoo, this'll all make you laugh. Remember a dude called Alistair Griffin? Second on fame academy a while back? Well, he's a local lad, who just recorded a joke tribute to Mark Viduka. *Very* tongue-in-cheek cover of Hallelujah...

http://www.myspace.com/alistairgriffinonline

Right, hopefully we'll polish off West Brom to set up a chance to get revenge for the undeserved loss to Man Utd earlier in the season. That is, if they beat Reading.

After that, the skunks, away. Should be fun! (FTR, that's Newcastle ;))

Jacobim: One of Leonard Cohen's greatest songs is "First We Take Manhattan".

Perhaps the Boro fans could be singing "First We Take West Brom, Then We Take ManU." after the game tonite. Good luck...|

Thanks! We've almost got a full squad back, and hopefully Dong-Gook Lee will get involved. I like him already!

He could easily become a fan favourite.

I may have to message Alistair about covering that song, too :D

 We made hard work of that!!

In fact, lets wind back the clock;
Hull; 1-1.
Replay; 4-3.

Bristol City; 2-2.
Replay; 2-2.
AET; still 2-2.
Penalties; 5-4.

West Brom; 2-2.
Replay; 1-1.
AET; still 1-1.
Penalties; 5-4.

Yep I'm a reading fan - the reading-manu game was on tv live here starting at noon - perfect for a really long lunch hour and was almost paid off with the comeback. :( So no chance to lose to you again now :-) congrats on going thru.

Good Lord guys..... I grew up speaking English but truth is guys, I have hardly a clue as to what any of you guys have said in this thread ^.
That's cool though, I've read through the whole damned thing. When jub first though about having a sports forum I was all for it, still am..... just hard for me to realize that there are so many UK and European guys here talking about a sport that I don't understand at all.
Fine with me. It's all a learning experience.... learning about things everyone in the world is interested in. Had no idea though, that jub attracted so many gay guys that loved soccer..... stupid me I guess.
What is great here is seeing so many of you that are extremely passionate about your sport and the teams that you support. Damned fine that is. I love to read about your passion, even though I don't understand most of the stuff you write..... just love to see passion in writing.

anyway friends, just a thought.....

If you have any questions about the game, I'll answer them! In fact, I think there'll be a few people who'll explain them. The offside rule is an awkward one, though, but I reckon everyone will have a go at it. :)

Funny thing is, I'm a gay goth - being a football fan is completely out-of-character for people like me. But that's fine, I like to be different :) I just never grew out of being a football fan, like I grew into being gay, etc.

In england, football is the sport. Cricket, Rugby, tennis... we'll sort of pay vague attention, but football is the major sport here definitely.

I have a season ticket at Middlesbrough's ground, so I can see all the league games, from a vantage point in the top corner of the ground, with padded seats. Yep, I've got it good :)
