White House Official Fox News A Wing of the Republican Party

^I really wanna come visit you now!

:[

You should go!

I used to live in Southern California and some of my closest friends lived in Oregon and Washington (still do). It's a gorgeous drive with lots of terrific places to stop along the way; great vacation.

Droid, the thing is, lefties will admit this.

By contrast, righties really do think Fox is "fair and balanced". :rotflmao::rotflmao:

if that were true there would be little or no argument

but alas the leftwingnuts scream to the high heavens about fox

and source msnbc as news

so i like ur sentiment but it's not reality

at least not on JUB :-)

Plan it for your next vacation. ;)

I have controlling parents who try to plan my vacation for me on my vacation days. This is also known as, stay at home and work you idiot.

:[

But I WILL FIND A WAY TO GO AND PREVAIL.

:]

Since Jack Springer wanted the proof, and Chance asked about it, here's the expose:

That's no better than the trash Beck parades around TV with. There's no hard proof in there, just circumstantial garbage woven together using with a ridiculous thesis based on her own bias.

If you think that's quality journalism, then your opinion on ANYTHING media-related cannot be trusted.

Thanks Johann, I appreciate you posting the video. I didn't see anyone in "big business" bragging about sponsoring anything.

Ms. Maddow showed a web site that promoted the dates and attendance at town hall meetings and showed links to organizations that sponsored what they termed a "National Rally against Socialized Medicine.

She spent much of her segment talking about who the principles of the web sites were and some of their past employment history. That's good -- I always hit the "about us" button on a web site and look to see what they believe, who their directors or sponsors are, and who is on their staff, it can be very telling about the organization.

However, she did not prove her point that in one of the health care bills it stipulates that seniors will have to talk to someone about end of life choices (HR3200). You could call them death panels because it concerns death and it's choices.

She used a lot of derogatory adjectives when referring to people and phases she didn't like.

Johann, my guess is that you could hear the same kind of thing on a Sean Hannity program on FOX -- only the other way around. He would probably talk about how George Soros would be funding and backing organizations that promote web sites like moveon.org.

I think the point that we all need to accept is that you can't believe everything you see, hear, and read. People try to manipulate your thoughts -- both on the right and on the left.

I'll continue to watch the cable shows, but I won't be addicted to them and I won't believe everything that is said.

Rachel Maddow just proved to me that there are organizations that helped to promote and report on activity at the recent congressional town halls. She did not prove that the people at town hall meetings were plants of any organization or the Republican Party.

That was a good piece and I'm glad you re-posted it.

The first time I watched that I did a lot of pausing as I followed her on that website and used other sources to check out what she was saying -- and it all does check out.

That's no better than the trash Beck parades around TV with. There's no hard proof in there, just circumstantial garbage woven together using with a ridiculous thesis based on her own bias.

And since it does check out, Droid, you can't just dismiss it as trash: the people she talks about really were pushing the effort to disrupt and derail the town meetings.

But as Jack pointed out, that doesn't mean that everyone who went to one of the town halls and asked not-exactly-friendly questions was a plant; it just means that there was an organization, run by political pros, backed by corporations, which sought to sway the direction and outcome of the town meetings. There's no way we can know whether they people they motivated comprised a majority of the 'Republican' views at the meetings -- but we do know that there were people motivated by them, because their presence was documented at some meetings.

It's hard proof of the effort and who was behind it -- nothing circumstantial about that at all. And it wasn't a ridiculous thesis; it was a connection she uncovered, not one she went looking to support. The only question she didn't address, which just happens to be one of the most important, was just how much impact that effort had.

That's where her journalism failed: she left me with the impression that all the opposition at the town hall meetings was drummed up and run by this one central organization, when in reality all she showed was that there was such an organization.

What WAS circumstantial, and ultimately destroys any credibility this piece may have, is her attempt to create some sort of nefarious entity that is organizing all of the protests and protestors. No such entity exists. She's trying to create one to fit her thesis that all of the protests were faked and the protestors organized by either insurance companies or organizations organized against HCR. She provides evidence of none of that. All she does is show some of the organizations that were providing information for activists, something that MediaMatters and other similar left-wing organizations do all the time for protestors on the left.

What that story is is not journalism. If it was, she would have left the viewers to decide for themselves, not trying to craft the story around some ridiculous thesis.

Oh, sorry, I didn't know you're living in your parent's home.

Do what your parents say. ;)

Oh. Well doesn't sound like they're really terrible, just strict. Right? And there are some great bars and clubs in San Diego, aren't there? I mean, to fill in until you can travel more.

yup, I mean obviously I can't tell them, I'm... you know, because they'll definitely stop any sort of financial assistance...

I'm a first year and I have yet to go exploring in SD!

It's about time they said it. Fox IS NOT actual news. It's nothing more than a branch of the Republican party.

We all seem to forget that the media exists to make money. It is not a charitable enterprise aimed at keeping the masses informed. The masses don't want to be informed, more likely they want to be assured that what they believe is right so they can sleep at night and shout and scrfeam with confidence at the next rally!

That said, despite their claims the medias' fundamental approach is to entertain NOT inform otherwise viewers wouldn't watch and they would go broke!

As someone said it is a puzzlement!!!

Really? Wow. I didn't even unpack before I went out exploring my first day away at college. Well you'll do it your way and before long San Diego will be your town. Be bold. (*8*)
