White Student Beaten On Bus, Crowd Cheers

It sounds racist in nature, but hasn't society DEVOLVED to the point that, during any fight of this type (no matter how or why motivated), there are ALWAYS people cheering and taking sides?

It so sickens me that humanity has turned into this, and the U.S. certainly doesn't have a monopoly on it.

I can't even watch people fighting, I'll rather turn my head away from it. When fighting became more and more common in ice hockey in the 1970's (?), that sport lost me forever, for example.

Harke The Bobotarch: "Normal teenagers..."
Sadly, he seems to speak the truth here. YouTube is loaded with teenage extreme fighting videos...

That bus driver needs his ass kicked all across the midwest! I cannot believe he continued to just drive the bus and not attempt to stop the fight--all the while that poor kid is getting his ass beaten in the back of the bus.

I'm dis-fucking-gusted.

I remember riding the bus to school in middle and parts of high school. Just like Jy said--there were always 'badasses' who sat in their seats as if they owned them...and started a fuss if you dared sit next to them. It shows just how stupid and ignorant a lot of children are when they are that age. They actually feel like they are proving something by 'owning' a seat on the bus.

I hope the white kid sues the school and the parents of the bastards that beat him up. I don't know what kind of parenting they're doing--but they need their asses kicked as well.

I wouldn't necessarily say this is racially motivated, moreso this was just some bullies' chance to cash in on a helpless victim. I felt so sorry for the kid while watching that video.

i'm not really buying that it was a racially motivated attack either. i think it was more about some ignorant ass kids, proving how tough they are by attacking someone who wasn't in a position to fight back:rolleyes:

as for all the other kids cheering it on...that's pretty common, i think. it's usually the same thing in most school yard fights--whatever the motivation behind the fight is. you're far more likely to see a crowd cheering the fight on, rather than anyone trying to break it up.

the supposed "adult" in the situation is a whole other story though. absolutely no excuse for him not to make an attempt at intervening.

What do you think Rosa Parks would have said to thpse kids who did all the hooting and hollering,
clapping and cheering, and taking cell phone pictures of the beat-up kid?

I had lots of trouble on the school bus between seventh and tenth grades, and I can pretty safely say that in my case, it wasn't a racial issue, even though I lived in a poor, primarily black neighborhood. My junior high bus (7th-8th grades) picked up kids from arough, but primarily white apartment complex, and I got shit from most of the kids on the bus, regardless of race. My high school bus picked up from a different area, and my brother and I were the only white kids on the bus. My brother (somewhat of a science geek but mostly an athlete with a mediocre GPA) got relatively little grief, but the geeky kid with the flute (me) lived in mortal fear of the other kids.

Then we moved out to the suburbs, and I started driving to school, and things got much better.

If we're done with the race vs. race thing, any suggestions for ending school violence?

I'm allergic to people who present problems without solutions.

This was my life, grades 2-6.

No videotape back then, no one cared, no crowds on a messageboard feeling sorry for me, just me getting my ass kicked for 4 years.

Dude, it was my life until I graduated from high school and even when I went to the police to complain about being attacked and threatened, the response I got was "and what did you do to deserve that?"

When I explained that I hadn't done anything I was told "well it sounds like you might have a memory problem. You go home and come back when you remember why they want to attack you, ok?"

Yes. The police said that.

It's probably why I'm so desperate to throw those fuckers under the bus and run over them a few times.

Focus on education first. I advocate CUTTING education spending. Force the schools to cut overhead and mandate the bulk of their funding should be in teacher pay! Teach them math, science, phys-ed, social studies, language arts, and make them accountable. If they're goofing in the halls, fighting, setting up cliques, it's because they're not being challenged. The ones that get out of hand? Send them to a school designed for troubled kids. You got it! The curriculum is harder, the regimen tougher. Schools have become social gatherings where administrators outnumber teachers and parents treat them like tax-funded daycare. Oh yeah, bring back corporal punishment. The Dean of Students at my high school was built like a linebacker. He got a fucking hardon if you you elected a paddling over detention, a choice he gave every student to be disciplined. Few took the paddling.

I think they should teach social health and tolerance as well, while they're young before the world has the opportunity to infect them with prejudice and divisiveness.

This is sad, very sad. Unfortunately this is becoming more of a problem in schools these days. There is no room for school violence and unfortunately a lot of administrators in my opinion don't want to be hard on them for fear of retaliation to them personally or getting in trouble with the school system. Discipline is getting worse and it is taking precious time from actually educating students on math, science, english, social studies, etc. because the teachers are having to constantly babysit.

When I student taught i'd say about half the kids there could give a shit about getting a good grade, al they wanted to do was have a good time and while thankfully I never had any physical violence in my classroom I had some smart ass mouths to put up with. Thankfully our principal was a hard ass and made it well known in the school that he had his teacher's backs and that he didn't tolerate any violence or attitude whatsoever.

There really does need to be more strict rules and punishment for students who do not follow discipline. Shit like this - I would have expelled them and sent them to an alternative school. Maybe each school system should have a military school for shit heads like this? Some Drill sergeants could whip those kids into shape.

They should and you get that once you get to the college level but unfortunately thanks to that lovely piece of legislation called No Child Left Behind the schools are forced to focus almost entirely on the core subjects. That is why you are starting to see sports and arts being cut from school systems. Granted in P.E. you could learn about safe sex practices and diseases but the previous administration seemed to think that Absistence education works better

Kids these days are such fucks in this generation.

Really, kids these days are the worst. They get away with so much shit and have no respect or responsibility. There are so many screwed up parents these days. If I did half of what the kids get away with today when I was young my dad would have whooped my ass.

Were you out of the closet during school and did you stand up for yourself?

Problems are interesting. Solutions are boring.

Could the beaten up kid be 'special'? He was flailing his arms around an aweful lot.

But ...you spent the rest of your life getting back at them?

I a way, yes...I went on to become an awesome person with a great life and I forgot all about them! I ran across one of the main ones online a while back, and the most exciting thing he'd done with his life was he posted a review of an end table he got at Ikea.

Plus you have sex with Marines. :gogirl:

Hmmm.. I had bullies in school but I don't think I would be pissed at them if I met them now because in school kids just have an asshole mentality and when they're older most of them (if they have any sense) aren't the same person they were back then, but I never experienced any serious beat downs or anything that serious so I guess I'm lucky.

That was my plan. I haven't really gotten round to it, unfortunately.

That's a punishment worse than Hell.

The bus driver might well have been fearful for his own well being. The driver was also aware that the incident was being filmed. I am surprised that the assailants were either unaware of the camera, or in their blind fury, and ignorance chose to ignore the camera.

I use to work doing security for our local school district. It was my job to install the cameras etc. on busses and to watch the tapes when needed. This kind of thing happens more than most would think. The driver was wrong. There is a reason why they still have CBs. The police would have been there in minutes. The driver would not have probably had to even say what was going on, usually there are codes to be said.

As for the above quote most of the drivers I knew didn’t like the kids on their busses, so they probably didn’t care. As for the driver knowing it was being filmed, I doubt it. Where I worked most of the busses were dummy cameras. Only a few of us knew what ones were real. As to you last statement with the above said they are usually “hidden” but in plan sight. Unless you were looking for them you probably wouldn’t know they were there. I am guessing their busses are the same.

That school district is so screwed!

before we throw around the blame on the bus driver, the parents need some of the balme to raise shits like this too.

It is the job of the driver to protect those in their bus. The driver should lost their job. I know where I used to work that is exactly what would happen.

In this case we don't know the facts with regard to the camera, CB and why the bus driver did not intervene.

I am sure that in good time the police investigation will acquaint us with the facts.

Speculating on the whys, and maybes does not reveal the facts, rather reveals our guesses.

I note your personal conclusions.

I note your previous experience.

You will have noted from my posts, that I have drawn no firm conclusions, nor made allegations, on the rights or wrongs, of this matter.

I have repeatedly stated that the police investigation will uncover the facts.

You are entitled to express your personal opinions. But your opinions, are merely your assumptions.

The facts will be revealed in due course, when the police have finished their investigations.

The judicial system will determine the guilt, or innocence of those involved.

I am a distant observer, as are you.
