I don' know and I'm curious. Half the board lays some claim to some authority but where is that laid out, other than self-publication. Duties seem divided, but how.

Thus, I request someone to simply set forth the names of "Forum authority figures" and their responsibility. E.g.,

Corny seems to deal with technical issues (MOD? Admin? Tech support?)

Well, they DO list the moderators of each sub-forum at the bottom of the main page of that forum. That will at least tell you that much.

If you go the bottom of each individual forum's main page, you'll see who the moderators are for there. I think there's a list of them all somewhere (or there used to be) but I can't find it right now. In the meanwhile, here are those whose names are on the forum main pages:

Absolut, Autolycus, centexfarmer, Corny, jackoroe, KaraBulut, opinterph, quasar, ronboy, Seasoned, TriBi

KaraBulut is the health professional and Seasoned (soreknees) is often in the Coming Out section offering advice and help. On the CE&P boards, jackoroe is the local political right-winger, while centexfarmer has a wonderful habit of breaking down JUBbers posts and minutely dissecting them, it provides nailbiting tension because you never know how he'll finish. opinterph is by contrast the most mild-mannered of the lot. TriBi is a friendly and genial Aussie and quasar is a chirpy and cheery Brit, ronboy offers orgies and is Italiany Catholicy and then there's Corny who is the most prominent of the lot but he can be a bit tempramental, unpredictable and testy sometimes. Finally the most unseen two are Absolut and Autolycus who stay very much in the background since I know nothing about them.

Then there's Bryce (formerly Seth) and 'JUB' (was he formerly Mark?) I'm not an expert, lol. They both seem to be on the admin and staff side of things. I'm sure there's plenty more that I'm not aware of.

I have some (odd) questions and as good a time to ask them....


Do moderators ever have to fill out paperwork? Do they ever keep a written log of actions or anything like that?

Do moderators have a rota system where they are expected to be on here at certain fixed times, before 'handing off' to another moderator at the end of their 'shift'?

Does JUB employ admin or staff as their full-time jobs on a salary basis? Do they work in an office? I mean, are there people who turn up at 9am every day to work for JUB (or their parent company) and is that for the magazine/sales side of things?

If so, then where exactly is this 'main JUB headquarters' located? Canada? Los Angeles?

I would have edited my post to add this at the end....

Since I found myself trying to find one-liners for all the mods, then by necessity what I said was going to be rather blunt and broad caricatures and generalisations of them that aren't meant to be taken too seriously. :)

Corny = the big kahuna

jackoroe = token right-wing mod.

KaraBulut = receptionist at the local hospice home. medical professional at JUB.

quasar = all-rounder (talking about body size not talent). also the Fetish moderator. sick bastard. deletes and saves all the scat/sounding threads in the mod towers. JUB's Public relations go-to-guy? I think he was chosen to do that because of all the mods, he is the only one who can form a sentence using three words and more.

ronboy = cutie pie. love him.

Seasoned = in-charge of garden of memories, I think. hence his nick.

TriBi = Australian. 'Nuff said.

At the foot of the main forum page is a link called 'View Groups' - Show Groups - JustUsBoys.com World's Largest Gay Community & Message Board

Handy if you want to see who does what and it has quick links for PMing a mod. All of the mods and staff are real, however 'The System' isn't human (seriously!) - so it's pointless sending him a PM - he only talks to the Mods and staff. :lol:
 
okay, i have to say something real quick.

i wrote about a blog entry which took me an hour to write. i clicked the post blog entry button and for some reason, i was logged out. i go to the auto saved feature and 1/4th of what i put up was there. :grrr: WHAT THE FUCK, MAN!!! i'm pissed. ya can't fix that for me? is the whole entry gone? i really poured my time and energy into that shit only for it to be deleted. that's fucked up.
 
I hate it when that happens too - however, you DID say that what you'd poured your time and energy into was 'shit', so maybe it was for the best. (*8*) ;)
 
I just got spanked for not answering some questions from earlier in the thread. Having cleaned myself up and found an icepack to sit on, I'll answer what I can. :)

JUB/Mark is the owner, Seth WAS one of the previous owners, but is still onboard to assist Mark.

There's no paperwork, but we leave an electronic trail of any posts/threads deleted or edited. There is also an additional set of forums that only the Mods, Admin and staff can see. These are where Post Reports appear and are discussed, Private Message reports, in addition there is listing of information relating to banned users, the Mod Handbook, and Thread Quarantine where we 'park' threads if we remove them from the forum while we discuss them.

The localities of the various mods means that it's very rare that one of us or a staff member isn't online (sometimes it might appear that one of us isn't around, but it may just be that we're in 'stealth mode'). If we sign off and another Mod isn't around and there's a thread that may descend into potential conflict, we tend to leave a 'heads-up'. In addition, if one of us is away on holiday etc, we all tend to spend extra time here to oversee their forums too.

There are paid staff, and there is an office. More than that I am unable to say - not because I can't, but because I don't know). :)

That used to happen to me too, but it is solved when signing in by always ticking the box 'Remember Me' ..|

If you forget, then what you need to do is highlight all your text, then press CTRL + C, then sign back in, get the reply box back, then press CTRL +V. Viola! Your text magically re-appears. Copy and paste. ..|

Judging from his embracing of everything mega-corporate and big-business, plus his anti-government views, together with his derogatory comments about the Occupy movement, not to mention his attitudes towards socialised health, then I'd say that falls pretty much into right-wing territory.

I didn't realise things were so skewed amongst the Telegraph reading hardline Tory backbench brigade these days. :p

I'm not offically the moderator for that forum - Centexfarmer is... I'm really vanilla in that respect, but we got fed up with people judging the members in there. Just because getting shat on while dressed as a french maid and wearing a gimp mask isn't MY thing doesn't mean that I won't help provide a safe discussion environment for those who DO enjoy it. As for Public Relations, that's my work background so....
