Who is Macklemore and why should he be a Gay Icon.

^Well, i am most certainly not a "misguided youth", and he is most certainly not a "fly-by-night" performer, his stance, especially in his "Genre" of music, certainly gains my respect.

Exactly. Today, we're getting much more support than ever, and previous generations have faught long and hard for this much acceptance. It honestly pisses me off that people are being so picky and whiny!

I am not sure if he is a gay icon or not...but he could be. Many of the biggest gay icons I know of aren't gay. I liked what I heard and saw and if nothing else he is a positive ally.

Those aren't even GOOD donuts. Someone with discerning taste would've purchased Delicious Donuts instead. And if this Macklemore person were really such a great employee, he'd offer to pitch in on the Henderson project. He almost certainly won't, since his commitment to the company is all about superficial appearances rather than true commitment. Meanwhile, all the other employees are clearing a spot on the wall for his "Employee Of The Century" award, as they're so easily conned by simple sweets. Why must I work with such sheep?

Until this thread I had never even heard of Macklemore. So his status as a Gay Icon is beyond me. I don't care for his genre of music, I don't find him attractive in the least, and don't give a rats ass about his motivations.
The key point of consideration, for me, is that he is supportive of others freedoms. So overall I thank him for his support, and wish him well in his career.

Clearly, the most important thing is to make absolutely sure we are not awarding or even hinting at the title of "icon" for someone undeserving.

The endorsement of gay rights in front of national cameras was obviously all just a ploy to get us to give him that label!
