Why is Fabulouslyghetto banned?

I don’t dispute that the person who got banned is at fault for their own banning. Either way at the same time, threads like this shouldn’t exist for any user, what point does it serve to air out dirty laundry on a user who is banned?

I think he is interesting and I like to read him.

He thinks I am on the wrong side of the sexual harassment issue and that I support a rape culture. I have to think when he writes that he is basing his opinion on what I do or don't say...and he may think he is right..but he truly is not correct. In order for me to make myself clear...I have to open alot of doors I will not open in order to explain myself and/or my position fully. As lengthy as some of my posts are..I truly leave out alot of stuff because I either don't want to say something or if I do..I do not want to defend it....

So I can understand his assumptions. I get annoyed...but my ineffectiveness at making my case for whatever reason is not his problem. I get annoyed at myself for even entering a conversation where I have tied my own hands.

...but that doesn't make me not appreciate his topics or contributions...or him. I do admit I skip over most of the drama or lengthy arguments so I don't read everything but I do know he is smart and entertaining and is quite brave to bring up topics that are met with such resistance. I do think inequality under the law for anyone in the USA is always an important topic....and it always should be..especially for a group of people who have to struggle with the same thing. Empathy and understanding are much better responses than indifference...

I hope he returns....I will miss him.

What point does it serve? What point does any thread serve.

People want to talk about something, they start a thread. If no one else shares that interest, it sinks down and off the first page. It's pretty obvious members want to discuss bans. We always have. It's a forum.

Like I did when I worked in the bar...or when I am in any group...I rarely pick sides.....and I rarely tune into drama. I HATE IT when I let it get to me.....and once something devolves into a tit for tat I have better things to do with my time than let someone else's drama become my own....

It's funny, the people who push our buttons.

We must all have sorta unique soft spots.

I get along well with pretty politically diverse types, to wit Pat and Fab.

Some others take a practiced effort for me to avoid. Certainly, if it were them that were banned, I'd be savoring my own little spoon of schadenfreude.

One of the reasons I say I leave my humor at the door on the internet is because it really doesn't translate well...and the same when you are playing a character which is also humor based...when you switch gears..it is when the fireworks start....

Off the internet.and before the internet existed..I had friends who Fab reminds me of...except alot raunchier and a few of them were way more volatile...so some of it makes me grin. I get the humor...but the internet is a tricky bastard because alot of things are left out of the equation that you get in the 3-D world...

I have seen some people navigate it masterfully...and effectively..I am soooo not one of them..not even close. So when he or other people go off sometimes...I try to see the whole picture and consider all of that..even when it is directed at me. I like seeing the whole picture....

I will give you that it does catch more flies using honey....and delivery is important. I would hope the greater goal would be to move forward with any issue..and I do think that is his goal...and he could work on choosing his battles and taking it to a higher place even if others don't. That is always a choice everyone has...how we communicate..and something most everyone can improve on...

I hope he does. I like his message and I like his topics...but as with most everyone... there is always room for improvement when it comes to communication skills.

There are a few people here who I don't communicate with at all..because I know I will either be nasty to them or passive aggressive....and they have insulted me many times and I want to bite real bad...but I walk away almost every time..a near perfect record...and I pretend I didn't even see it.

One of them is a person who fuels alot of this crap on..behind the scenes...I suspect he has done it since this site began.....

I doubt the racial equality threads and arguments are what got fab banned. It was going into other threads and taking potshots at members like Vannie and me, who weren't even participating in the threads. I've had him on ignore for 3 weeks and when I taking him off I find posts about me and others that were just personal attacks with no merit. That's what he got banned for IMHO

I honestly don't read them or if I do see them..I don't give them much credence...

I have to say the only time I tune in is when it is someone I don't like very much...and there are not that many people here who I have a problem with that still post so I kinda check out when the insults start alot of times....

A LOT of members here ignore disgusting behaviour from people they like, it happens all the time. Fab isn’t the only individual where people turned an eye on something nasty he said to someone else.

Almost every member happy with his ban is not innocent in baiting in return just as much as he did. There is an ignore feature and people don’t have to reply to his threads but peopel did and some of those people made very racist comments. Which is what I find so funny about all of this because apparently people have less of a problem with that.

He did have a go at people and there isn’t an excuse for that. He isn’t the only one that needs a time out though. The moderation on this board honestly needs to be better and more consistent.

What makes you think people turned a blind eye to any racism, behind the scenes infractions and warning could have been handed out like confetti, i'm sure Fab must have got a few before the axe finally fell, when you get a warning or an infraction take it as a friendly heads up to start behaving, sadly Fab seems to have completely ignore this.

Because some of those posts never went away. And users like Benvolio took such a long time to get the ban hammer even though he posted every bigoted thing you could imagine for years. Though, if this is the beginning of the mod team cracking down a bit more, I’m all for it and applaud it.

To be fair Ben did get a few holidays along the way, Fab got a good go before they came for him as well.

What really shocked me about Fab was that he was once Karen Walker, a poster that i got on with very well, i don't know what brought on the change in his persona, perhaps the prison time served he posted about in some threads or some other thing, whatever it was it wasn't a good change.

I wish him well in the future whether he comes back or not.
