Windows 10? Are you going to do it?

Thanks for the "first hand" info Agent.

I have heard that MS realizes they have a lot to loose if this OS is as poorly received as Win8 -

Just the fact they put back the "start" button shows they were listening for a change!

All you guys worried about updating because of bugs have nothing to worry about. I'm running the Insider's Preview right now, which is essentially a beta that was released so there wouldn't be bugs by the time it got to release date. I wouldn't recommend the IP to anyone right now unless they know a lot about computers, but by the time the RTM comes out all the bugs will be fixed.

You're welcome! I should also add that 10 basically took the best parts of 7 and 8 (not that there were many good parts of 8) and combined them. It feels like 7 but you have the option of it looking like 8 if you'd like. Plus, I'm a huge fan of the new flat aesthetic that's taking over technology. They've added a bunch of really convenient shortcut options for power users too, and it's much easier to muck about in the backend than it ever was in 7.

I have the official version installed. I highly recommend it.

I was going to wait and talk to my brother. Then we will decide.

I should add that the screenshot I have above is of the RTM. It is good. I have not seen any bug. Actually, I'm running it on my main computer right now. It's good.

How did you get the RTM? The 10162 preview build wrecked the networking on my desktop and I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the RTM so I could fix it!

I'm a developer.

You want 64 or 86? I'll link you to my onedrive for iso.

It will be the version they're releasing to the public.

It seems to be mostly a North American thing to associate bright colors with childness. I've never seen this anywhere else.

No I think this perception is pretty universal
In the UK the lower down the educational scale you are the more likely you are to paint your house in primary colours.

As for me upgrading, like everybody else I'm going to be waiting for the kinks to be ironed out, but I am curious to see what becomes of the new Edge browser. Good to see Microsoft finally retire IE.

Yeah I will wait, probably for a year.
As for IE. I will stick with Firefox, regardless

The new browser called MS Edge is way better than Firefox.

Well there's that at least. Have you compared it to Chrome at all?

I know Microsoft came out with a whole bunch of silly and meaningless benchmarks saying Edge is 111% better than Chrome or whatever, but I want to hear from someone whose actually tried it.

Also, since you've posted pics here of you using a Microsoft Surface I wanted to know if you've tried 10 on that yet. I have a Surface Pro 3, and honestly I'm completely satisfied with 8.1.

Yes, I decided to roll the dice so we'll see how it goes.

Worst case scenario is I absolutely hate it and it runs terribly necessitating a reinstall of my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium... not that big a deal.

Yes. I've migrated my work system, work laptop, home office desktop, surface pro 3, and lenovo tablet over to windows 10 RTM. I was completely satisfied with 8.1. I am now completely satisfied with 10.

Regarding edge vs chrome, yes I've been comparing the 2 myself. Edge really is as impressive as what MS claims, especially in the RTM version. There really is no more advantage to using chrome. Besides, what do you have to lose? If you end up not liking edge, just keep using chrome.

To Agent, the ISO is uploading onto my onedrive right now. I will post a onedrive link here later today. You won't need a key or anything. Just download the iso into your computer, mount it, run setup, and let it take over from there on. The upgrade should be pretty smooth.

Yeah but does Edge have all the add-on and customization options of Firefox? My Firefox is highly customized and I don't want to give that up.

I never use add-ons and whatnot. How does it hurt for you to try it? You know, it's NOT a prerequisite to use Edge for you to uninstall firefox. Why not try it and see if you like it or not? Keep firefox.
