  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Would you rather live in New York City or Los Angeles? Why?

Well, LA is where I grew up and went to college. Right now though I'm thinking about moving to the east coast and enjoy a different kind of lifestyle.

NYC & Boston sound ideal to me. I love winter. I'm never really a sun/beach person. So even though I live in west LA I don't go to Santa Monica that much. I love train/subway/people...this whole LA traffic is just driving me nuts. A normal 40-mile drive can take about 3 to 4 hours on a Friday afternoon. It's ridiculous.

Don't take me wrong, I still love LA. It's where I grew up after all. It's just that I wanna try something different.

Nah...I'm going to take my time because I am young and in college so leaving as soon as possible would be the worst thing I could do.

seems like you would prefer cambridge more than the south end, south end gayboys canbe twitchy and elitist.

cambridge has a more comfortable environment and its just a few stops on the redline to downtown.

Central Park is great for every season- Winter is the best. Lol! Also, I understand where you're coming from, as far as moving when you finish college - that's when I plan to move, but I'm not sure just where as of yet.

Yep focusing on college is the best thing for now.....if you get a great job and make a ridiculous amount of money one day you can travel all the time anywhere you want.
I also really want to visit San Jose as soon as I can..it's mountains and hills look like a fairytale.
Napa Valley also looks really beautiful...Colorado has some cute mountains too.

I like my city.

There are places you can go in and around Los Angeles that don't rely on 3 hours of traffic and headaches.

Within 10 minutes of my house I have 8 malls. 5 beaches and more food and everyday needs than anyone could ever need.

And contrary to popular belief, you can actually walk here. No lie.

I know you can....people are just dramatic and full of crap.
LA is huge...lots of completely different neighborhoods in it.

Perhaps...haven't been there much.
I noticed a lot of guys on Adam4Adam are in Cambridge.

Boston is not my hometown.
My hometown is Sarajevo haha.
I don't like Boston.....flat landscape, not a lot of natural beauty, brutal winters...
Your defensive atittude about Boston is unattractive, most of the people here seem to have that village thing going on.
They take it personally if you say something negative against it.
It's an ok place though..I just hate a flat landscape.
As a city it's nice....for people who don't have a mountain and hill fetish like me.
Maybe it's because I grew up in Sarajevo? I miss the huge mountains and hills.....they make me so happy just seeing them.
I love the South End in Boston...mostly because of the gays.

Yeah, SoCal in general has a pretty mild weather compared to the weather in the other states. Winter can be chilling, but there's no snow. The sun, the palm trees will light up your mood whenever you're outside. Even I (a typical winter person) enjoy them sometimes.

Too bad you like big cities, otherwise I'd recommend San Diego to you. You seem like the type of person who will enjoy living there ;)

I love San Diego too :D
I have a photobucket album devoted to it.
It's just the whole West Hollywood gay city thing that attracts me to L.A. more.

And if you think L.A. is bad, the rest of the state is worse. They talk funny
out there. You rent apartments out there not buy them. In L.A. they do walk
ons, in N.Y. you can get walk ups. In California you are forced to get in a car
and with a limited number of people go somewhere. In New York you get to
take trains and cabs and you get to meet so many interesting and different
people every time. In California (especially places like L.A. and San Diego and
San Francisco you have to go an hour or two out of town (in those anti social
thingies they call cars and trucks or bikes to pick the climate you want for a day.
In New York, mother nature brings it to you. What a time saver.

Commando boys, Commando girls, farm land, grass land, mountains, world
renowned Lakes, Dormant (and active) volcanoes, placer gold......go to the grocery,
the hardware, the laundry book and movie store all in one trip and have to deal
with the 15 bags of stuff in and out of that damn car thingy again. You only get to
make one round trip.

Yep, NEW YORK hands down....I'll help anyone pack, just save me a room no
higher than the 21st floor (nose bleeds and fear of heights)

I said LA because of the weather, but if you like city living Manhattan (NYC) is the most incredible city in the world.

LA.

New York just seems too busy to me, LA a bit more relaxed.

Also, from what I've see of New Yorkers they seem rude and in your face. Ones from LA seem self-absorbed and ignore you... So I'd rather be ignored than have people in my face all the time.

Last, the weather. It's almost always the same in LA. In NY you go through two big extremes in the summer and winter.

Well you see I live like 5 minutes from a bus stop and 10 minutes from the subway....yes I get to meet interesting people sometimes and see lots of cute guys but it's so not worth it...I hate taking the bus and train...which is why I am so happy now that I have my own car.
I can drive to downtown and crowded places...go to a mall or a public event if I want to meet interesting people.
Due to my laziness, meeting interesting people while driving is more likely to happen than me meeting them on a subway or bus because the chance of my lazy ass actually taking the bus or train is low.

Anyone who thinks New Yorkers are "rude" is a fucking pussy.

when I first read that I thought it said... rude AS a fucking pussy.

pussy isnt really that rude..lol.... welll except for the times when they make that wet floppy sound when you pull out.

of course I am gay so I may have other reasons

but rude IS a pussy? anyone that thinks new yorkers are rude never tried to order pasta in the northend in Boston.

those guidos can be testy.

I'd rather live in New York because more Puerto Ricans live there! :p
