I don't think you read my post thoroughly. I said it's interesting that people favoring Los Angeles keeping talking about the mountains, and forests, lakes, and attractive nearby towns OUTSIDE Los Angeles, while the people speaking up for New York City are talking about the neighborhoods, amenities, transportation, culture, etc. INSIDE New York City.
It seems to me that people who love Los Angeles love it because of what it's near, not what it is. But people who love New York, love it becuase of what is is.
Car maintenance annoys me.
Pollution annoys me.
Traffic annoys me.
Status symbols annoy me.
Searching for parking annoys me.
Renting a car now and then to take a long drive somewhere may one day be appealing to me, but driving every single day is something I have zero desire to do.
Since moving here, I never have to worry about finding a designated driver when I'm out, I go through a ton more books, and I see ridiculous stuff (acrobatics, magic shows, great music, and all-around foolery) on the trains. I love having a great transit system. Don't miss my car at all.
I've been all about NY in this thread, but like I said earlier. Please go to L.A. You strike me as the kind that belongs there.

I just cannot imagine living in that. Certainly it works for some people, but for me... yuck.
Yes, that's true, I would choose Los Angeles because of what it's near, not the city itself. But also because of the climate and the hot guys. The city itself is not that interesting to me, though there are some fun parts of it. I can't see living in New York, it seems to confining and too unhealthy.
Oh cut it out.but if you took the city of Los Angeles itself and put it somewehere else, say in Michigan; it would not be the cultural center of anything but, perhaps, Michigan.
Who brought you Jaws?
Oh cut it out.
Los Angeles is not that culture deprived. It has the entertainment industry.
lol, well he might have had a point, but then he went on to list Katy Perry and Lindsay Lohan.![]()
I want to live in the backwoods of Oklahoma.
I think that LA and surrounding areas have just about something for everyone. There are not many places in the World where you can go to the beach in the day and go sking at night.
