wuh oh... Kavanaugh is a #metoo

Justice requires that the investigation must go on whether Kavanaugh is on the SC or not.

Hopefully, so. With the Cosby convinction, maybe things will change... even for guys with money and influence?

When I think of all the political careers which have been destroyed over the past few years alone, I find it difficult to understand why Kavanaugh is being defended so vehemently. Is it desperation move to get him into the Supreme Court no matter what?

Two men have come forward to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to claim that they are the ones who actually assaulted Christine Blasey Ford during a house party in 1982 — and not Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Ugly truth time: Cosby fell because of a damning trifecta that he's rich AND black AND his victims were white women-- trying to buy NBC didn't help his cause, nothing scares the white elite more than a power grab. If his victims were black women this case never would've become the media firestorm that it did and hope for a conviction would've been weak. He'd probably still be on the air and elvin wouldn't be working as a cashier at Whole Foods to supplement those lost residuals.

This doesn't really herald any new dawn for rich guys in America and especially not for rich white guys who still hold an ungodly amount of power and influence with nann nobody standing above them to check and balance things out. The Cosbys, the Moonves, the Weinsteins, they're the exceptions that only prove the rule, that the machine is still moving on in spite of a few setbacks. I'm not getting my hopes up for sweeping change, at best maybe an aggressive guy or two will rethink disrespectfully catcalling a mother as she walks into a grocery store with her kids. Maybe.

All we're getting is a rare peek inside the curtain to see just how impenetrable these power structures are, and how wrong we've been doing it all along. I must say I am enjoying that white conservatives are finally admitting how damaging it can be to charge someone with things they didn't do. Who wants to tell them about how the criminal justice system works?

No, it's a desperation move by the Democrats to keep Kavanaugh out. What a mess. If I were American I'd be so embarassed of my government. You don't need Russia meddling in your elections, you just need the opposite side. 😞

It's this American culture of doubling-down when you're wrong, or proven wrong, or might be wrong. This is the same crowd that tried their damnedest to send a child predator to the senate in Alabama, but didn't want a president with a funny sounding name cuz he might be from Kenya. The fluctuating standards work in his favor as they always have for men like him. I'm enjoying the hearings though.

Lindsey Graham: This witch hunt needs to stop, BEING ACCUSED OF THINGS HE DIDN'T DO HAS RUINED THIS MAN'S LIFE AND HIS FAMILY'S LIFE!

Black men for the past century: Say word?

He doesn't recall because perhaps he was blackout drunk (?) She does recall it was him, and she only had 1(?) drink.

She recalls because it was something major that happened to her. He doesn't recall because it was something that was not extraordinary but one of many such events.

From the same people that almost pushed a child predator into a measly senate seat? You betcha. And it's not even desperation, it's just politics as usual.

if the SC rules against "Separate Sovereigns",....and eventually rules that Trump is above the law with the power to pardon himself

elections will be suspended or ignored for "national security" reasons....opponents imprisoned or "disappeared"

he will be an emperor

hopefully there's someone who will do the right thing

I offer Exhibit A:

"No corroboration, no supporting evidence before us, just Dr. Ford's allegation" - Sen. Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.), 27 September 2018.

Of course you goddam toxic waste of DNA, you didn't PERMIT any of this.

So, two men are more believable than five women?
Only if they're Russian. [-X

No, he "looks different" so he was fair game. Kavanaugh is a good ole white boy.

Maybe what's needed is a joint statement from as many of the major corporations as possible...TODAY...that all funding will be pulled from all campaigns and candidates for the Republican Party at all levels, if Kavanaugh is confirmed. I know, this is a flight-of-fancy and ain't-a-gonna happen. I can dream, can't I?

And the newspapers need to get busy, too. TV sources are NOT going to do their job, because so many people still watch the networks ABC CBS NBC PBS for their news, and those folks don't do editorials and opinions, at least not overtly and branded as such.

So what you are saying is that $$ and corporations should influence your government. [Text: Removed]

You're implying that Cosby was tried because he was Black. The evidence doesn't support that.

He was a serial rapist and several of the women had reported him. A decade ago, 14 women came forward with accusations. A woman came forward in 2005 and accused him of drugging her and sexually assaulting her but she settled out of court. The National Enquirer dropped a story about the accusations and instead ran a story about Cosby's denials.

There was People Magazine story around the 2005 episode that had the following quote:
..in so many cases alleging sexual assault, these women make imperfect witnesses. They are talking about events two or three decades old. Many of their recollections are fragmentary, and in some cases, they are not even sure what happened between them and Cosby, though that is not unusual in cases where a possible date-rape drug is involved. None of the women ever contacted police with their stories, either at the time of the alleged assaults..

Sound familiar?

Argument about it being prosecuted because the women where white? Nope, Cosby was an equal-opportunity offender- there were plenty of women who came forward who were of varying races. Here's a picture of less than half of the women who accused him:

What did it take to put Cosby in prison? It took over 60 women coming forward with accusations. It took a District Attorney being thrown out of office and another one coming in with the promise that he would prosecute Cosby.

Cosby hired no less than 8 attorneys to defend himself.

Over twelve years later, Cosby was finally convicted and is now in prison (where, blind and 80 years old, the taxpayers have to pay for his healthcare).

The first assault reported was in 1969. Cosby got away with this by paying off the women, buying good lawyers and using his star power to get these women dismissed as confused, hysterical and, well... after all, these accusations were long ago...
Read their stories:
60 Bill Cosby Accusers: Complete Breakdown of the Accusations

It's always the same story... whether a black woman accuses a black man (Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas) or a white woman accuses a white man (Dr Ford/Mr Kavanaugh).

Sometimes it is about race. More often than not, it's about money and power and who can afford good lawyers.

I see this as a rush to seat a judge, so the timing is all wrong. She was stressed, but calm, composed and respectful. Time wise he was having his "period."

Why when men cry and carry on, they are passionate but when women do it, they are emotional? And what if it turns out this turd nugget did do what he was accused of, will it actually mean anything or will the fbi just get accused of being bias? They are just prolonging him being seated but I said throw up every roadblock you can, don't make anything easy for them.

Not like it has never happened before, eh?

Fame was probably the #1 reason, but I somehow think the repercussions and sentencing would have very easily been very different if the skin color of the victims and the perp were switched.

While I'm here, I'll throw in a bit of a "news ticker" here: This afternoon Flake/AZ said that he could not cast a yes vote unless there is an FBI investigation to actually vet some of this stuff...and Murkowski/AK and Democrat Manchin/WV (who was very possibly a yes vote) fell in march behind Flake. The President has to order an FBI investigation, though...and about an hour ago, the President caved!

So there will be an FBI investigation after all, and any voting on Kavanaugh is a minimum of one week away. "We're going to plow right through this...well, the plow is stopped!" - former California Senator Barbara Boxer, AS I WAS TYPING THIS.
