It's a reboot. They're telling a different story than you're used to.

You know how there are multiple universes in the marvel universe? Most of them have #s for names. Hell sometimes characters from different universes even team up together.

This is the 'Fox' universe. And in this one, this is how it happened.

Fanboi's gonna hate >.>

I'm a dedicated X-fan (although admittedly not in the past couple of years for the comics) and I saw X-men First Class last night. It was the most incredible film I've seen since X2. Loved it! All the performances and direction was top notch especially Fassbender and McAvoy. Well done to Vaughn and Singer for finally making a thinking person's blockbuster!

Cannot wait for a sequel!

Pray for it then.

I read earlier that the box office results are the lowest to date for an X-men movie by a lot. I haven’t watched it, but I do keep seeing great reviews for it. It will suck if they don’t make a sequel. Most people seem to think it is the best out of the five.

Hopefully the BO picks up.

That is what happens when you piss of your base.

No way, no how....It's good but it ain't that good...Not even good enough to go back to the theatre and see it again...

The numbers have not been great, but they have been solid. People like to say that it didn't make as much as Thor, but that film was in 3D and IMAX. X-Men hasn't benefited from those higher ticket prices.

I still think reaching the $200 million mark is possible. It does have strong competition with Super 8 and Green Lantern (which looks awful) coming out in the weeks ahead. Hopefully word of mouth spreads and people continue to turn out.

The article I read didn’t even take into account non X-men movies. Because of that 3D and IMAX were not even mentioned. I’m just worried that the studio will be greedy and may not do another. I keep seeing more and more sequels having a hard time getting green lit because they only made 70 million profit and not 100 million profit. I like X-men too much to want to see that happen.

From what I have heard it seems Fox took elements from most Marvel Universes. I find it disappointing, but it could still make for a decent movie. Either way I think anyone that would be considered within the base will probably see it in theaters. They just need to jeer at it for awhile.

Are you a purist or is it something else? I haven’t watched it so I am curious.

They went with the Ultimate Universe with regards to the Summers brothers.

Ah...thanks, Thy. I'm not well versed in UU at all. It's good to know that there's some basis there.

Saw it last night...It was good..The special effects were on-point and so was the Casting..I Love Kevin Bacon when he's BAD..He always delivers..

I'm not a Comic-Geek so I never heard of the "Emma Frost" chick until I came to JUB...She is no-joke..

Agreed, although I am a massive comic geek. I was a little skeptical on Bacon as the Black King, but he did a great job although I don't quite remember Sebastian's powers working like that. His power set reminded me of a combination of what I know about the Black King's powers and Bishop's...keeping in mind that I vaguely remember the Onslaught fiasco before jumping ship to DC almost entirely.

The White Queen has always been, to my recollection, one of those characters that you aren't supposed to like but you can't help but like her anyway.

Pray for it then.

Yeah, I saw it Friday night and was stunned that there were only about 20 of us in the theater. Granted, I live in a small, podunk town in Maryland but Thor was damn near packed (saw it in 3D, mind you). The X-Men are infinitely more compelling and complex (imo) than Thor, and have a wider appeal within the realm of comics as I recall.

Nevertheless, First Class rocked and was only slightly worse overall than X2. Fassbender and McAvoy did a fantastic job in their respective roles. I honestly don't think they could've captured the Xavier/Magneto dynamic any better.

I thought it was the best one so far..
It had action.. It had actual character development and i loved the acting choices for magneto and x

Loved it! Still thought the mutant lineup was a little lame... but over all- my favorite X Men film yet!

Way better than the last two X-films and I'm not surprised it didn't have a MASSIVE blockbuster opening weekend because again - the last two X-films weren't that great, so why would the general audience flock to see this one?

Still definitely the best X-films since X2.

Without spoilers

Did they hint at Nightcrawler at all?

This is the best out of the X-Men movies, it's the only movie I've seen twice in theatres over two days time...Which says something, I think.

That being said, yes it does change the source material from the comic books, but for the most part it works. But let's keep in mind, the first X-men movies didn't stick to the source material either...Rogue and her abilities, anyone?

There's only one major complaint I have about the movie:

And that's the fact that Moria McTaggert is no longer Scottish, or a genetic doctor in her own right.

Oh no..As far as I'm concerned the Studio can change any of the X-Men Stories and tell them a million different ways as long as it is good Sci-Fi....Like i said earlier I never got into comics. Most of the Jubers & Comic-Geeks in this thread seem to like the way the story was told..

So you might be a little turned-off by the revamping or retelling of the story but you will Fall in love with the Cast and the characters the Studio/producers chose this-go-round...

I just saw the movie. I don't really follow the series (I don't really like comics) but I thought it was a good movie. I really like the backstories of most of the characters.

There were a few characters I've never seen and some I remember that weren't in the movie (where the hell was STORM?).

It kind of made me want to go and read the comics.
