Yes, Chick-fil-A Says, We Explicitly Do Not Like Same-Sex Couples

The bastard !

You should have just jumped the counter and bitch slapped him.

I wanted to splash it in his face, but my friend wouldn't let me. She then proceeded to show out on the little teenager who gave her Diet Coke as a joke. Our Chic-fil-A is really ratchet.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I absolutely LOVE Chick-fil-A and go through their drive-thru at least once a week, if not more. Best quality chicken, excellent salads and lemonade and tea that can be purchased by the gallon and taken home. Yum.

We do not have any of this chain in the Rochester area.

However, if we did, I would boycott them...

I thought it was common knowledge that Chick-fil-A doesn't like us gays?

Christian Based company + donates to Christian activist groups + who protest and fight to take away Gay Rights = they hate us.

I've never eaten there, and never will. All my coworkers know this, so when ever we go out for lunch they know we can't go to Chick-fil-A.

Thanks to Metta for posting this thread. All I knew about Chick-fil-A was what I learned from the TV ads. The locations near my place are way too far away - saved by location.

It comes down to this: if they don't want us, I don't want them. I will simply channel my dollars elsewhere. :rb:

When will people or corporation apply their bible thumping ways to everyone equally? Do they only hire married people or do they make sure all the single people are not living with people or make sure they are virgins. People always overlook people right under their nose going against their biblical teachings so long as they can use them in bashing gays.

I love their food, but they're fairly new in our area and I didn't know much about them the first few times I went in. I knew something was amiss when I heard nothing but the local Christian (I'm sorry, I mean "POSITIVE") radio station playing in all of their locations. Then I noticed the fact that they're closed on Sunday. No company that is more focused on following Biblical rules about working on Sunday than getting as much money as they can by being open can possibly have a good stance on homosexuality. I've tried to stay away ever since.

Just makes me want to go there to sit in a booth with my husband and feed each other waffle fries. I see it as they are getting what they want, no gays in their stores. Not on my watch kiddies.

DO boycott.

I'm biased; I was fired by Cracker Barrel (solely) for being gay.

I've never been thrilled with their policy of closing on Sundays; to me it has always smacked of Xtian Supremacy - "we're better than you because we fall for superstitious claptrap." Not that there's anything wrong with falling for superstitious claptrap, but to act like you're better than anyone else because you do, and to use that particular gin to treat other human beings like shit - well, that's just evil. A very common and ironic evil.

Not that a boycott will be very effective against Chik-fil-A. And yes, they have a nummy samich.

I think what really bothers me is that, otherwise, Chik-fil-A is a great fast food restaurant. Their food is great, plus it tends to be significantly less obscenely unhealthy than the burger chains. And, on top of that, they have fantastic customer service, which is another rarity among fast food chains. There is always a manager taking orders and every time I've gone there and had to wait even a couple minutes for them to make my food, they make sure to throw in a coupon for a free chicken sandwich just for waiting. So, it pisses me off that it stands out so much from the crowd when it comes to quality and customer service, but at the corporate level, they're bigoted, Bible-thumping fanatics.

By the way, their new spicy chicken sandwich is so amazingly good that it ALMOST makes me want to forgive them...

Boycotting anyone may or may not make a difference, but it will give us satisfaction, and I think that's enough. ..|

Obviously a boycott is a completely appropriate response, but a passive boycott won't accomplish much. If all that happens is that a bunch of gay guys stop going there, they probably won't even notice it.

The most important thing is to publicize what they're doing, and make sure that word gets out to all the gay-friendly organizations, so it isn't just us.

Corporations, whether it's chick fil-a or Target, need to learn they can't get away with this kind of thing. We have enough problems without fast food chains coming out and saying, we don't give a rat's ass about you...

Appropriate...yes. But there's a reason I don't like boycotts.

Sure boycotts can cause corporate america to make public statements about how sorry they are they've mistreated you. But, do they really mean it or are they just saying to it so the problem with go away.

There's no real way to know for sure which it is. And no real way to know that it has really made a difference behind the scene.

I think it just puts on the same level as The American Family Association, they ALWAYS have a boycott or some sort going on. I for one don't want to be compared to them.

^^^ Well, you know when the boycott has been successful because they will have stopped funding the anti-gay foundation. If they don't, then the boycott was a failure.

But you're right, a boycott by itself won't do much. You have to simultaneously put pressure on them any way you can. And publicity is vital.

And PS, don't forget that other corporations will be watching very closely to see whether chick fil-a gets away with what they're doing. So there's also a strong deterrent effect involved.

The owner of Chick-fil-A, a Southern Baptist, won't open a store in Nevada because that state has legal prostitution, gambling, and drinking. So it appears he is boycotting a whole state!

The gay community boycotted Coors Beer in the 90's and I know some bars that won't serve it to this day and
gay drinkers who will not drink it. Even hiring Mary Cheney for public relations efforts still hasn't convinced many in the gay community that Coors really has changed its stripes.

Chick-fil-A fired a Muslim who was buying a franchise in Houston when he did not participate in a Christian prayer at a corporate training session. The corporate mission statement says the principal focus of the franchise is to "glorify God" (especially the Southern Baptist "God").

Hobby Lobby/Mardel Christian Stores are owned by a religious group in Oklahoma and also close their stores on Sundays. The stores play Christian music over their store speakers. Their corporate headquarters sometimes takes out full page ads in newspapers promoting a religious theme. There have been charges that their stores are anti-gay.

Chick-Fil-A Says It's Dropping Its Support For Anti-Gay Marriage Groups

“Chick-Fil-A has a long history of trying to encourage and strengthen marriages and families, both within our Chick-Fil-A system and with our customers,” Cathy said.

“Chick-Fil-A's Corporate Purpose is 'To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us, and to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-Fil-A.' As a result, we will not champion any political agendas on marriage and family. This decision has been made, and we understand the importance of it.”

But Cathy added that the company would “continue to offer resources to strengthen marriages and families.”

“To do anything different would be inconsistent with our purpose and belief in Biblical principles,” he said.
